... and Sunday means, "Let's go shootin' boys!" We lost count of the number of seemingly civilised folk toting a good old double barrelled shotgun over the shoulder for comfort. One lone confused and bedraggled looking spaniel/retriever type hunting dog appeared from the woods wearing a look that suggested he'd had enough and wouldn't mind a ride somewhere nice and warm.

Aujourd'hui, une deuxieme journee sur la route des chateauux de la loire.

Notre premier arret est tout pret de Tours, dans la region de Vouvray. Il ne s'agit pas d'un chateau, mais de maison troglodytes. En resume, ce sont des maisons creusees a meme les montagnes. La region de Vouvray est aussi l'endroit d'ou vient le Vouvray, un vin mousseux aux bulles tres fines. Les caves des producteurs de ce vin sont elles aussi creusees a meme la montagne ...

... the Chateau. During the revolution all the furniture was taken and remains mostly empty. We find it strange that they go to so much trouble to build these but no one actually lived there for any significant time. Most owners only visited once or twice during the period of ownership.

Day 35 - Saint Gervais La Forêt

... It is a lovely town with a very old cathedral that is being restored and there was lots of scaffolding across the building and the entrance. Never mind, in we went to see the lovely stain glass windows. It was built in the 12-13 century, 1134 to 1260. The town has lots of little winding streets that we walked along and admired the expensive goods in the shops, high quality though.

... into the walk with some grey clouds above and minimal progress on the GPS map, we aborted the walking and collected our wheels.

We visited Chateau Blois and it was very impressive. The french chateaus are in contrast to the Scottish castles as the french design is obviously very different. So many more colours, and more vibrant at that, and everything on the walls, floors and ceilings is busy. It can at times be a bit of an eye sore. However the majority ...
