      The Practice Pack

So with 6 weeks to go and Oli away in Florida, It has started to dawn on me how quickly our trip is coming round. My main concern is how on earth I'm going to fit everything into a rucksack that I will be living out of for 5 months!! With this in mind I decided to do a "practice pack" as a way of testing actually how many clothes I can jam into every corner and gap in my bag. The outcome was actually quite successful with the help of some hidden gems- the packing ...

So, I thought I would begin the adventure from home and show the run up to our adventure as well as some of the problems we face (& overcome!) Packing has to be one of the most stressful stages of this process. How do I possibly fit my wardrobe in a 45 litre rucksack?! Other than not being prepared at all I think I'm reasonably well prepared though. And like I said, I've still got 5 days to go which is more than enough time to change money, read the guidebook, buy a new toothbrush and discover that the place I've booked to stay the first night has had 10 armed robberies in the last 3 months. The excitement starts here!

... and Canarby Steet, taking in the West End, Soho, Big Ben, Number 10, Speakers Corner, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and lunch in Hyde Park - not a bad feat considering my past two visits were brief and centred around family not sight seeing. Most of these sights and more were covered by the bus. I find comfort in revisiting the familiar not only from my previous visits, but books, tv, movies and family stories. The Wibbly ...

Good meal last night, no aches or pains this morning and clothes are now dry, After a full English breakfast, and in dry weather I set off from Thame quite relaxed.

The first 5 miles were along Phoenix Way, a fantastic level and smooth cycle and walking route along ex-railway line. Wild flowers on one side and grasses on other. This is ideal cycling. After that I managed to find a few ...
