      One of the woman gets a form – standard first admission I guess – and beckons me to follow.

      We go downstairs, spiral ones to boot, and she beckons a chair and says something like ‘a moment’.

      I wait about 4-5 minutes and she returns, and in English ...

      ... was equally as generous with food. I could have eaten there all day and not paid a penny, with breakfast and lunch provided and a kitchen stocked with fruit/veg/pasta/cheese etc. It was the most expensive hostel I've stayed in but not much more than the other ones in Milan and fully worth it.
