They had only uncovered the ship in 2007, and had only started sifting through the contents in 2013, so there were also actual archaeologists on display, hunched over boxes of sand trying to piece together the past.

... watching the state broadcaster on the jumbotron, in anticipation of a big military parade for national day, two days in advance. This was all that was on TV for days. It was the 70th anniversary of the Japanese leaving, so that's a good time as any for a party, I'd say.

... in Chinese for 40 mins when we first left, and despite us asking for her to stop, she kept on and on! It ended up being quite funny looking back, but there was no translation, and when our local staff translated, we got a 1 min 'speech'. Guess it was part of her job, but apparently it wasn't very interesting for the locals either.
Our apartments were gorgeous, all with sea views and glass-walled bathrooms, so a very successful trip all round - I had a great time!

This week we went to Lost City Water Park and on the weekend we went camping on Hailing Island. We rented two tents and slept on the beach after staying up late and cooking on the open fire.
