    ... in Chinese for 40 mins when we first left, and despite us asking for her to stop, she kept on and on! It ended up being quite funny looking back, but there was no translation, and when our local staff translated, we got a 1 min 'speech'. Guess it was part of her job, but apparently it wasn't very interesting for the locals either.


    Our apartments were gorgeous, all with sea views and glass-walled bathrooms, so a very successful trip all round - I had a great time!

    ... the bus the next day instead of the 4-5 hour hike!) But we were rewarded with a charming guesthouse and our balcony boasted some of the best views yet! We headed out for a 2 hour walk that evening and watched the sunset over the ricefields.     Well, thanks to (Paul's - I blame him!) frugalness and refusing to pay a guy 70y commision on a train ticket we got the Hard seat to Guilin because it was the only option left (then on to bus to Yanshou).
