The next day a bus to Pamukkale - to a really great hostel wıth a turkısh day bed ın the sun, an ındoor pool, sauna and quıte a few other nıce travellers, a lazy afternoon readıng & eatıng. ... car company was waiting at the hotel so we loaded up and took off to Denizli after haggling with the rental guy over cash or credit. The GPS and the internet maps I had printed said the drive was right at 4 hours...we made it in less than 2.5. If you went the speed limit (70 or 90 km) on the main roads, then yes it would take that long, but I was doing 140 and getting passed by locals like I was standing still!

... was great seeing Hilz again. (She was last on board with us in Croatia last year) and Josie was a familiar face from St.Margaret's days. They'd had a wonderful experience at Gallipoli and had a photo of "a boat flying a kiwi flag" at Anzac cove. That could only have been "Awaroa"- Helen and John from Christchurch definitely had a ring side seat as the sun came up on Anzac ...

... Everyone is constantly walking around with a glass of tea in their hands and of course, every meal is followed by tea.

  • The locals also love to give you presents. So far, I have been given two bracelets and Lee has been given one.

    We landed at 9:00am at Dalaman airport, where the weather was much better than that we had left behind in drizzly Istanbul. The airport was quite small, so it took no time to collect our luggage and head out the door to the waiting havas.
