San Sebastian is a wicked old town, literally full of tapas restaurants, bars and little shops. Our hostel was right in the middle of it all, it was ridiculously loud at night, but nothing wine and ear plugs can't handle. They have all these tapas laid out on the bars and you pick the ones that look good.... sometimes ...

... a hotel right next to the station because our train for Paris leaves at 7am. We have gotten several different stories about how to take bikes on the train, from the train officials themselves. We unloaded our bags from the bikes at the hotel and then went on a wild goose chase around Bayonne in search of a bike shipping bag that would fit the tandem. No luck so we bought two bike covers for 40 euro, tape and then scrounged some ...

... who were traveling down to Barritz to visit family, and across from us was a couple from Holland who looked about my age, another guy from Paris who was 18 and a grandma. This group was a lot of fun for the 5 hour ride which turned into 6 ½ hours due to a fire near the tracks in central France. I was truly speaking all French now. ... so everyone was taking things pretty carefully. We got a final collection of goodies, then watched the riders come through in a couple of bunches & that was the end of it. We said goodbye to Graham & Gary and made our way back up to a gorgeous old medieval town called Cordes Sur-Ciel (that we had driven through on the way to Gaillac).
