Day 67-69: Binna´s birthday in Jakarta

A travel blog entry by binnaogvictor

Day 67

Took the early train to Jakarta. Stayed at a 4 star hotel since it was Binnas birthday tomorrow. The trainride was very comfortable, we paid a bit more this time, so no salespeople, beggers or entertainers on the train :) You see a lot of poor people when driving into Jakarta, people living on the traintracks and houses that are …

Day 117: Resort Day Jakarta

... in. I faintly mustered up the confidence to get all the way in and I didn't get out for a while.

Even though I did have some sun screen on, I got myself some nice tan lines today. More of the red and white stripes right now, but I am sure that it will fade into brown by the end of the week. John also has some lines going in the form of the "farmer's tan". We really were not even in the sun for all that long and part of the time we were in the pool the sun was well ...

My clothes was washed and ironed by the maid (although I insisted to do my own laundry) and some minor matters sorted out by Margie about my luggage when I woke up. Another good thing to know is to make sure you get an incident number for your lost luggage, have complete address and phone number ...

My own little corner of Southeast Asia

... the airport but I'm not sure how accurate that is considering it was at midnight. Taxi fare is SUPER cheap here compared to anywhere else I've been (the exchange rate is CLEARLY in nearly every other country's favor). If you know how to work the bus system it can cost you as little as $.35/ride but I'm told that it has taken as long as 4 hours to get to central Jakarta ... I guess we'll see how long it takes me to figure that out.
