      After our trip to Solingen and Cologne between Christmas and New Years we returned to Bielefeld where we spent our time exploring what the area had to offer.

      A couple of the highlights included;

      • Our first snow for the year, including the first snowball fight!
      • Sparrenburg (Bielefeld) Castle which was originally built in the 13th century.

      including schnpps and of course some local beer. We then started off in 'our’ car for Berlin,
      the drive to Berlin to a few hours and provided a good opportunity for Nathan
      to get use to driving on the right side of the road again even if he was not
      willing to go quite as fast as some of the other cars on the autobahn. We sat on a comfortable 125-130kph ...

      ... His lego constructions were impressive. He read to Marion in English from a picture book and found her attempts at reading and pronouncing German hilarious, saying that she is reading German like English and that was not right at all.

      After lunch we went off on an excursion to the see the Externsteine, near Bad Meinberg, about 30/40 kilometres south of Bielefeld. This is a line of very large sandstone rocks in the hills ...
