The only tip i would give 2 people wanting to visit the Meltemi Village is the food is not up 2 much, Breakfast was prob the worst meal of the day, the lunch was good and the meals where different every night. Other than that though the rooms where big and very clean, there are activities for people to take part in from 10 in the morning till about 5.30 in the afternoon. If you Like beer, wine (white or rose), brandy, raki and ouzo then this is your holiday. The hotel shop sells all other drinks vodka , JD etc, i found people buying a bottle of something then taking it to a table and just getting a coke or lemmonade to top the alcohol up. I found people there to be friendly and if your polite then people are bk. The bus service 2 the beach is a good service will drop you off at 10 and pick u back up for 5.30, there are pick up times in between. All in all if you get the sun and enjoy a drink then i would say this is a good place to go and relax, reps where polite and friendly, still can't get pool side tunes out of my head.

We have just returned from a 2 wk "all inclusive" holiday at meltemi with our 3 children aged 12, 6and 5. I can honestly say the hotel itself is very clean and the rooms are a good size. The food is absolutely appalling for a 4 star hotel, my daughter ate spaghetti bolognese every day for lunch and tea as there was nothing else suitable. My boys ordered burgers and chips from a takeaway with their spending money one night ( without us knowing) because they couldn't face going in the restaurant. As for the drinks who drinks Ouzo, Raki or Brandy??? We have been all inclusive in Greece before and local drinks included local vodka, gin, tia maria, martini, malibu etc etc. We didnt take a lot of money as with all inclsive you dont need much but towards the middle of the second week we were running out as we were having to buy food and drinks from the hotel shop ( the shop must have done a roaring trade in the 2 weeks we were there). SNACK BAR what a joke that was - spinach and ricotta rolls every day and thats your lot!!! Its a shame that the food and drink spoil what could be a really nice hotel although it is a little too far from the main resort and very geared up for the Germans even the tv is in German so why they give you a remote when you check in is beyond me. Entertainment team are great for the kids but having to sit on stone steps is not my idea of fun.
No food for kids except pasta !!!!

1st holiday abroad in 10 yrs, 1st holiday abroad for our 3 kids. the food was crap for our children ok granted eldest so fussy the food was fine for us and our middle daughter couldnt wait to get the puddings.... thanks to dan, jo, kerry and ami they made us feel better after 2 days (felt like o my god did i get put to germany instead of crete) they are so arrogant. our room was really clean and couldnt fault our maid. was a bit let down on the alcohol front but nothing a bottle of vodka from the supermarket didnt sort. the brittish entertainment was great at least they all sung live. as for people moaning about the tv channels i certainly didnt go on holiday to watch tv if i did i would have stayed at home..... if you are reading this before you go and are a coffee fiend like me invest in a travel kettle and coffee and milk and your sorted.....you can get a coffee pot and milk from the restaurant and take it back to your room. if any of the reps are reading this you did a brilliant job.
We loved it

When we first arrived, we too were shocked at the lack of English guests, we did begin to worry where we had ended up. We found the other german guests to be rude, apart from the exceptional one or two. After three days we eventually met some English guests, this was when our holiday turned. the hotel was clean, the food was good, a better selection for children would of been nice. snacks could also be better. The drinks are not that great, so we did buy our own in.Would be nice to have more English channels on the television. We found the top pool better although there is lots going on in main pool, games etc.the beaches are nice, you can get the hotel run minibus to meltemi beach, lovely beach, great for the children. you can even get a cool box if you miss lunch, to take with you. The entertainment staff were great , kids club staff great too.really got involved with the guests. We recommend you go and see the reps show, fantastic show, we were there on there first night, it was great. The mini market staff were friendly too. i think we would go back if the same Thomas cook team were there, and the hotel made a few changes for the English. after all it our holiday too!
It's not that bad!

having read the other reviews after returning from Meltemi Village i feel that the early ones were a bit harsh. our family went for two weeks and thought the complex was good value for money and very good for kids. We have been on five all inclusive holidays and feel that this wasn't the best but great value. Yes the complex was on a steep hill. The hotel is twenty minutes walk into hersonissis but a taxi only costs five euros. The hotel is newly refurbished. The rooms are very clean, modern and have no ants. The food was fresh there was something different every evening meal. There was loads of fresh salad and different dressings for this. Breakfast wasn't great which after a week we were getting fed up of hard bread and cheese. Drinks were rubbish and you did get sick of drinking the same thing, but they do say in the brochure that they are local drinks only. The staff are very friendly, Dan,Joe,Kerry and Ami were fantastic the entertainment team and made our holiday more enjoyable. We would go back but maybe just for a week. Scored 7/10

Just returned from a fabulous holiday at the Meltemi Village Hersonossis in Crete with my wife and 2 kids aged 5 and 3. Before we left we read the reviews on trip advisor and were concerned with the bad press. It couldnt have been further from the truth. the hotel is excellent, extremely clean, and food is top rate, load of choice and variation at all meals. the all inclusive alcoholic drinks only include beer, brandy, raki and ouzo, but to be honest that wasnt an issue. The Thomas Cook entertainment headed up by Dan was fantastic, they really took time to get to know all the British guests, and there evening shows were great fun, The kids club again was really good, the kids loved it and couldnt wait to go each day, loads to do and night time movie clubs and slumber parties. All in all a great place to go, there were loads of brisih guests and everybody got on really well. A great holiday.

Terrible all inclusive hotel
from mcmullen
Hi, We have also returned from the meltemi hotel and having stayed in 5 all inclusive hotels before, we thought we knew what to expect. This is by far the worst.
I will start off by telling you that the hotel is very clean and the rooms are large. The entertainment team are FANTASTIC they made our holiday. That is the only good bits!! This is the first year us english have been to this hotel and it doesnt cater very well for us. In the brochure it advertises a snack bar...theres not one just a table with left overs from night befores dinner. In the previous all inclusives we have stayed at in greece, spain, and turkey we have had a seperate snack bar, serving chips burgers etc, well not here. We also thought all alcoholic drinks were included, obviously not your smirnoff etc but all local gin vodka etc, well not here only raki, ouzo, brandy and lager, which of course doesnt suit many people. There was a lot of people sitting with their own bottles of alcohol and using hotels mixers!! Shocking when you havn't budgeted for this. The food in the restaurant is good for us adults, but very poor for kids not much to choose from. Going back to the brochure inaccuracy it states the rooms have a TV, well they do but all channels are in German! This does of course suit the majority of guests 95% are German! The hotel is not in the centre of Hersonissos but approx 20 mins walk away. The hotel is also on a very steep incline so def not suited for people with walking problems.
One To Avoid AT ALL COSTS

I returned yesterday from meltemi village in crete booked with thomas cook and paid over £700 for 2 weeks all inclusive holiday. I can honestly say it was the worse holiday i have ever been on, and i have been on all inclusive holidays all around the world.
meltemi village itself is situated on the side of a mountain and is miles from anywhere. we arrived at 4am and were taken up to our room by golf buggy, it was at the furthest point from the reception area and restaurant. the pathway down is very steep and dangerous. After a few hours sleep we went down to the welcome meeting at 10 o clock. The rep had not told us that we would not even be able to get a cup of tea or coffee until 2 o clock in the afternoon, and then only until 4pm after that you have to wait till breakfast next day or pay ! This is supposed to be an all inclusive holiday. The only drinks provided were raki or ouzo or greek brandy, there was white and rose wine which was completely tasteless when it was available, the soft drinks were from machines which were constantly empty, on complaining to the manager i was told if i didnt like it to go somewhere else, and he said as long as he provided water that was all he had to do.
The food was awful, hard bread rolls, disgusting butter, no fresh fruit juice, no freshly cooked eggs, tasteless cereals and thats only breakfast. Other mealtimes were even worse.
The place was full of german families each with at least 2 terrible children who ran riot through out the complex the noise was deafening. The whole place is geared up for the germans, its the only language you ever hear even on the TV in the room. The entertainment is all in house, no traditional greek dancing or anything like that. There is a small Relax swimming pool which is supposed to be for quiet and peaceful swimmimg but this again was over run by noisy german children and wasps galore!
I could go on and on, but my only advise to english holiday makers is to avoid it completely,
it should be withdrawn immediately from the Thomas Cook brochure.
It is certainly not an ALL INCLUSIVE HOLIDAY by any means and you end up having to spend a fortune to escape from the place, you even need to get a taxi to the nearest supermarket because it is so isolated. To get to the nearest beach you have to cross the North Coast Highway which is a very dangerous road which has no pavements and you risk life and limb everytime you go there.
Take my advice dont go to Meltemi Village, there is a lovely resort of STALIS a few miles away, go there on a self catering basis and really enjoy Crete, it can be a wonderful island
with beautiful beaches and lovely tavernas.
I hope this report will help anybody who is considering a holiday at Meltemi Village.
DONT GO THERE !!!!!!!!!

Place is set on a hillside.About 1 kilometre from Hersonissos. Food is excellent with a first class choice. Beer wine etc on tap for lunch and evening meals.Tow pools plus a kiddies pool. One right at the top. one and the bottom. The bottom one has all the entertainment tupe things going on all day. Rooms are in fact apartments of two bedrooms another room and bathroom very spaciou very clean and comfortable. The hotel bus can take you to Star beach for free. Nice little beach music played all day got a bit loud and ulta modern in the afternoon for my taste. Taxi for 6 euros into Hersonissos plenty of night life particulalry around the harbour area until 3/4 a.m. if you want it. Plenty of first class restaurants. I can recommend the one next to hollywood. I suffer fram a bad knee and when I told them I was having problems getting up the hill they arranged for a golf type buggy to take me to the room. Plenty to do for kids. There is also a very nice beach the other way called Stalis beach 8 euros by taxi. Small shppoing centr but quite a large beach. Loved my holiday thinking of going back although it's something I very seldom do.
