Assisi Off to the Basilica of St Francis for mass in English. We get there early and have time to go and ask for a Mass to be said for the Quirk Family. Mass is downstairs under the Basilica and we are there ten minutes before 9 so we get a seat. Nuns abound in the congregation, we get two in our seat. Let's start with the CONFESSION, Not private, anyone can read this!
Twelve days ago I could hold out no longer and I emailed my dearest Dad asking for his help?
We had been away from home just over six weeks, eaten many cuisines in many regions and I was missing, guess? Vegemite, yes indeed and peanut butter!
It wasn't that I didn't think ...
... We noticed across the road and up slightly, of all restaurants, a Chinese restaurant! Straight away our taste buds zeroed in and we wished we had seen it before lunching. So on this return visit, Chinese was on our menu list and our taste buds!
It is so odd, having Chinese looking people, speaking Italian! Perhaps not so to Italians, in that they may speak with a terrible Italian accent, however to our ears, they sounded so ...
... best pasta. After our meal I joined the group walking up to St. Francis' hermitage. I spent some time up there and walked around through the woods before heading back down to town. I made it in just as it started to get dark and walked around some of the little shops before they close. It's been such a long day that I opted for a shower and nap before dinner. A Big Day in Panicale....for two reasons!
Firstly, I visited Mara, the ladies hairdresser in the piazza. Thought I wanted regrowth and trim?
Picture shows new Sue back in the piazza enjoying morning coffee. I put it down to "lost in translation", ah, it's Italy!
I must say it was definitely the "quietest" visit to a ladies hairdresser I have ever experienced.
Mara speaks no English ...
