... hairpin bends the road hugs the edge of a massive cliff. Much of the road is now under massive concrete covers and protected from falling rocks and snow but looking at the construction of the original road here is just a miracle to say the least.
Today much of the road is held up by concrete pillars but on close inspection one can see all the old packed shaped rocks built up and carefully fitted under the road. What a job that must have been to build all this ...
... our very good friends, Ingrid and Frank Kunstel, was especially amazing. We've known each other for over 40 years, so we know each other well. We have a nice rhythm of traveling and being together. Seeing all this with them, experiencing it together, enhanced every minute.

Today we began the mammoth task of packing and then saying goodbye to everyone as this was our last day in Trentino. I've decided I'm brave enough to have a crack at driving! So I did a little driving yesterday and today I drove us up the mountain to San Martino. Paul forgot to sort out his international license before we left and has been driving without it so I figure its not much different me driving :) ...
