      Dolomites to Paris

A travel blog entry by jtate on Jan 21, 2015

Today we woke early to have breakfast before our taxi came to take us to the train station. We were running a tad late due to the overly relaxed concierge and when we arrived at the station were in trouble for being only 2 mins early for the bus. To add to the pressure we had to pay the taxi driver the fee of €25 which would have been fine if we had the cash or had time to go to the ATM. Instead we had a €10 note and coins adding up to another €10. He ...

      The Dolomites Day 2

A travel blog entry by jtate on Jan 20, 2015

Today we woke up sore and stiff from the previous day's workout. We had breakfast then geared up for the day of snow sports. Today we made sure to stick to blue runs so no more incidents like that of yesterday's. We did a few runs near the hotel before plotting a course to the top of the mountain - Tofana. We came to one part that was pretty steep and I wasn't sure how Ash would go. But she surprised me and went straight down it without a fuss. Apparently, Ash saw ...

... recommendation of the hotel concierge, to catch a short bus to another slope as it would be quieter and good to ski. When we got there and caught the lift up it was great. A different view of the mountain and you could see a bit more. We had to ski down a slightly bigger gradient to get to a different chairlift and it did challenge Ash but she nailed it! This took us above 2000m above sea level and we could see right across the other side of ...

... the voucher email and collecting the passes but don't be silly. Nothing's that easy! We needed a printed version of the attachment to the email. Yeh, no worries, let me just get my portable printer. This was the first document I actually needed printed all holiday, all the rest accept them from your phone! I ended up having to join the hotspot of one of the office ladies phone and try and forward the email ...

... area from the street - both are equally mesmerising and truly fascinating. I navigated these forums with two guys from the hostel - Ben and Devon. It is nice to have some company to revel in the magic of these fascinating places. After the forums we took a LONG walk through Rome and saw a few amazing sights around every turn: - Capital museum - National monument to represent a unified Italy. This had an amazing outlook at the top over the city and a beautiful ...
