Our turnaround point was Orhaniye, which is where I put the location of this blog, and once again, we anchored just below a Byzantine fort on a tiny island, which became a pirate hideout after it was abandoned. Nowadays there are lots of rabbits, fed and watered by a bloke who comes over every day.

... we felt it sensible to "park off". Sticking to the back roads and keeping as close to the lake as possible in hope of finding something led us to Dalyan. Dalyan is famed for its tourist attractions most of which are reached by boat taxis.
The turtles at the river mouth, the mudbaths and the Kaunos archaeological site being some of the more popular stop overs if one takes a day tour.

... We have sampled local food in several places and particularly enjoyed The Mermaid – a seafront restaurant with a roof top seating area and a brilliant maître d and side kick. The food was great too.
Serife has her restaurant on a shady vine covered veranda off the main street into town.
She makes amazing pancakes in a wood fired oven and has other local dishes. A simple but adequate basic menu is on order ...
We walked down to the restaurant and were intrigued by the containers of water at every bend. Water - to bus used in the event of a fire!
Our walk took us along the sea front at dusk - so picturesque but a huge new hotel may have an impact. Unfortunately the road is too narrow to safely walk back, at night. This meant we said no to the deserts!
