... purslane in garlic yogurt (I’ll try this with mache), and a kind of ratatouille of eggplant, zucchini, and peppers flavored with olive oil, garlic and lemon. They make a dessert of semolina, sugar, water, margarine, and nuts. The simple syrup is flavored with lemon geranium leaf. We got to taste all this, and I and 2 others got to make a borek out of phyllo and feta. I must say mine was the best looking!

I could not understand why the aqueduct took an almost right angle turn before entering the city, I wish there was more explanation. Annie

Now we are home and I have to admit slightly celebrating the return of my passport. Annie is on her second Raki and this Turkish red can come home with me... Now I have a passport we can have a quiet day on the beach tomorrow.

Termessos

Being Sunday the roads were quiet and we set off for a drive into the mountains to see the Roman city of Termessos.

The city dates from around 400BC and is set in a very odd location high on the top of a mountain pass. The road up to the start of the city is steep and clearly had the odd Roman site on route with walls etc. visible.

We pulled into a large flat car park with clearly lots of ruins ...

... there is a new tram which runs out to the Otogar) we headed back to Kaleiçi to find the old covered bazaar. We found it but it was a disappointment after the wonderful Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. Walked out of Kaleiçi I to the non tourist part of town to a recommended Pide and cafeteria restaurant. Food was great and cheap. We both had dinner for 19 TL (about $10)- can't beat ...

... really quite nicely done with lots of upmarket hotels and restaurants.

Late in the day we caught the bus home and walked down to the beach where Annie braved the sea. She tells me it wasn't that cold but I don't believe her.... I think I'll have to wait until I'm in Italy next month!

Tomorrow we are off to the mountains and for those following my passport drama they tell me it will be here tomorrow morning.
