Sitting here in dreary miserable very wet Bogota missing the whether of London, which is not something I thought I would be doing. Although I do not know what the whether is like over there!!!

I have travelled since the Lost City through a few places which I am going to give a brief summary of each as they were just a one or two day stop over:

1st: Cartagena, a lovely spanish ...
Bogota, Colombia jameskanga...

Bogota, Colombia toni90... t open the lock. I’d just have to keep my fingers crossed that they could open it in Lima.

Arriving to Lima was uneventful and our driver took us a different way to the hotel so that we never saw the shanty houses, leaving me with a sense that it had somehow been unreal. It was dark and rainy out and I leaned back in the cab grateful that at "Left Luggage" they had easily popped my lock open with common tools. It was ...
Bogota, Colombia claraz8... I struck out on my own, wanting to see Parque Santander, a park located near the Museo de Oro. Turns out it is the square we had laready visited right by the museum. I opted for a wander through the area until a rain shower hit. Those of you in the know also know that I hate umbrellas and do not care to wear my poncho. So, my solution to avoid getting soaked was to duck into a cafe. It had been my intention to start trying the varities of Colombian coffee. I did not know the ...
Bogota, Colombia katertot1978... we were trudging towards the cathedral, packs on our backs, the sidewalk was fairly crowded with pedestrians and cyclists, so we often had to walk in single file. The guys were immersed in conversation when a woman stopped us to inform us that one of our comrades had strayed. We stopped to wait for him as he approached with a fairly disgusted look on his face- a bus had passed our group just as a person was vommitting, and he was the only one to ...
Bogota, Colombia coryandpierre... dubious. The flight from Lima to Bogota was only one quarter full and was the roughest flight I have ever been on. The turbulence was intermittent, but when it struck the plane shook like a paint mixer. The cabin crew were all seated and gripping something solid. It was the first time in years that I have felt truly uncomfortable when flying. But, LAN got us to Bogota safely. I was unsure, however, how much safety Bogota could offer. It was 03:30 and I had gringo written all over me ...
Bogota, Colombia belahanratty... decide i would head to Colombia and once again parted ways with my friends in Caracas.. I began the journey south towards a remote border crossing seldom used by travelers, due to the inconvenience and the strong presence of guerrilla movement in the area, or so they say !! Hard to say how long i spend in bus stations, on buses, or just simply in transit but i know it accounts for a great duration of ...
Bogota, Colombia pat_dorsey... be having traditional food with my family but a phone call to them reassured me that I was "missing nothing"! Saturday A city with a dangerous reputation was certainly far from what I saw. Huge amounts of people frequent the cities many parks at nightime. Children and adults alike, playing, talking, drinking and listening to music. I managed to sample clubbing nightlife proper on Saturday night. The nightlife ...
Bogota, Colombia shanem... I was there. Her family was so warm in accepting me in their place. Their apartment was cool with an "at home atmosphere." It was well furnished and pretty neat too. It was all worth the money. I rented the entire apartment for myself. I could come go as I pleased as the owners do not live on the property. I am planning to return to Bogota in 2009. I had so much fun there that I go over my memories of Bogota all the time.
Bogota, Colombia angelexiz... but unfortunately they were somewhat reluctant to let us take our pick for souvenirs. Sorry! La Vega: One of Caro's relatives owns a farm a little outside of Bogota, set amoung rolling hills, with a huge balcony view over the valley. Fitted with hammocks and all, we spent a little time relaxing before being put to work on the farm, picking a least 5 coffee beans. First time seeing some of the other fruit and veg we were accostoming ourselves to ...
