... trust their system would be safe along with some stuff collected from Cuba which we didn´t trust to post there. Surprisingly only cost around 6 pounds for about 2lbs or more of stuff in a large A3 sized parcel. We emptied out our big bags of all essential stuff before the next morning so they were extremely light as well as our day bags and stored the contents at Pangea for our return after Nicaragua as we planned to travel light and return to the same place (very good idea).
San José, San José, Costa Rica karaandkaydian... with the Spanish. I went to the bank today without incident and I ordered food and got what I ordered. That was pretty exciting. Perhaps next I will work on ordering something that isn't nasty and that I don’t want to immediately throw in the street and stomp. (If anyone says "Hey, let’s go to Plaza del Sol and get Chicken sandwiches” I will probably punch them in the face.)

So it has not rained in a ...

I enjoyed rewatching the first season and I forgot a lot of what had happened. We went out for pizza that night and then to a bar called Bambu Jam - it had live music and looked like a huge tiki hut inside. It was fun to listen to the music - they even played the Titanic theme song in Spanish - that was funny. When we ...
San Jose, Costa Rica rkamish125... planes can land at the airport without congressional approval so Arias had no idea how the guy got to CR. It was a bit amusing and actually kind of bizarre and complicated. But otherwise, we talked about rationing health care and about the past week and stuff like that. I saw my housemate earlier and her friend is still missing; I think its day 11 now. He must be in a lot of trouble, the US embassy is involved and the FBI and if they can’t find him ...
San Jose, Costa Rica rkamish125... negotiation to take care of. First, I could have the car for a discount, if I would take it for 2 days and pay in cash. But I wanted to put it on a credit card so I would have some possible recourse if there was any problem or accident. Then he hit me with the deposit...of $1,000!!! Oh, and not just a hold on that amount on my credit card, but an actual charge, which I would be refunded "about 8 days" after I returned the car. I argued that the whole idea of using the ...
San Salvador, El Salvador crashdot... money on the street. With so many around, we of course refused and then felt uncomfortable, and decided to try to find somewhere else to go. We tried to head up a road that went up the coast and ended up being stuck in the middle of sandy fields surrounded by villagers who have small houses made of steel sheeting and concrete blocks - At one point we got so lost we had no idea where to go and with the sun setting we ...
Zacatecoluca, El Salvador courtrand... was long and hot...blah, the usual.

San Jose is more Western than any city i've been in during the last 4 months, with the possible exception of San Salvador. A truly international selection of good condition cars pootling about, gridlock most of the time and a whole spectrum of brands and stores everyone back home would recognise.

I guess i could have left early in the morning for Panama, but this seemed like the perfect place ...
San Jose, Province of San Jose, Costa Rica brabzzz... windy walk and a lack of stamp in our passports due to ´Stampman´ being at lunch saw us into El Salvador. First thing we see and hear in our new country "HEY, I BEAT YOU GUYS"..........Bollocks. Anyway to wrap the story up. He follows us chatting and sharing jokes with the locals. We say our goodbyes. Get on the next bus just as we are leaving he jumps the barrier to get on. Resuming his chat. We pay over the odds he pays nothing. Although there is a knowing ...
Santa Ana, El Salvador nadiavinny... him to visit the town. While Ricardo had his meetings, I wandered around. The town is small, and there's nothing to do except enjoy the beauty, the tranquility and the friendliness of its inhabitants. I also wandered down to the manmade lake it overlooks, and waded through seas of plastic bags and bottles around its shores.
