Drvenicka 5 Split, Croatia

Split, Croatia richlum... down a little. We put on our raincoats and walked into town, risking getting drenched. It ended up not being too bad but started pouring again soon after.

So after three days on the beautiful island of Hvar, we did not go to the beach once. We did not see any sun until it peeked out for a few minutes an hour before we left. The only good thing was that those were the three days Andre had a cold/flu so even though it was a bummer he was ...
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia mdaa... about to watch our second sunset here-it truly is a highlight so far for us. Originally we were only going to stay one night and drive into Split today, but the beauty of having Fred means that is we like a place, we can stay longer :) Our third campsite in Croatia is by far the best; I had to really force myself away from doing nothing to write this! Although I have to admit that I have a million dollar view while writing it :)
Seget Vranjica, Splitsko-Dalmatinska, Croatia armajor7... say that the daily routine of Croatia was repetitive yet simple. Wake up at 8am for breakfast ... this was quite easy as our cabin was next to the kitchen. I made it to every breakfast, Benny made one. Breakfast on the first day was amazing - omlette of bacon and cheese with bread. The bar was set very high. Unfortunately this was never met again, as future breakfasts were bread with spread, various meats, "juice" and tea/coffee.

This was followed by sunbaking on the deck (I'd ...
Split, Croatia davechowie... down to the pier. It was nice to see a group of people hanging out waiting to purchase a ticket for the ferry. The ticket guy showed up and people were purchasing their tickets for the catamaran. The girl in front of us asked the guy in English if the ferry was running today for sure but she did not get a straight answer. We purchased our tickets and then saw the catamaran heading towards Bol from Hvar Island ...
Split, Croatia monkeytoesso after 3 days with Baba and Stipi we headed back into Croatia (split) by bus. We went to church on Sunday, visited 2 other uncles and their families (Branko and Maria, Pere and Mila). We ate lots of cheese (sir) and meat every meal including breakfast so as you can imagine I am not maintaining the lovely figure I once had!! Just kidding/ it wasnt good but boy oh boy it aint pretty ...
Split, Croatia jrriley8... in, I saw the hideous concrete apartment buildings and I felt a deep sense for dread... what a stink city! But thankfully, we drove past the blots on the landscape and made our way into the Old Town part of Split. I can imagine that a few years ago it was not a great place to visit but there is a new promenade overlooking the port and it seems as though the people are really trying to make the city nice again. As ...
Split, Croatia francethedance... at the seafront outside the south gate into Diocletian's Palace. It is amazing how they have kept and incorporated buildings from the second century AD into the city walls etc. A whole city has grown up inside the original outline of the palace and there are still parts of the original building being used today. There are whole layers of history here from Roman to Venetian to modern Croatia. We walked in through the south gate into the substructure of the ...
Split, Croatia mrsmac... late). So i sat in the bike compartment/floor the whole time with a guy by the name of Tom from Sydney, 2 Scandinavian dudes, and 2 scottish chicks who were all cool. We just drank beer, brandy, spoke about anything and everything and were mates by the end! Once the train got to Split, we had to catch a 45min ferry to Supetar which is on the island of Brac, where we were staying. We got to the ...
Split, Croatia sanfty... Museum in Berlin is dedicated almost exclusively to Jewish victims.] When we finished there, it was raining pretty hard so we opted to go to the Jewish Musuem, which opened 2 or 3 years ago. I had been there before, but had wanted to go back again since it's so big. The museum discusses the life of Jews in Germany beginning in the middle ages and ending with an exhibit about being Jewish in Germany today. We spent more than 2 hours there. [Andy: It was a very well designed ...
