... and continued on our walk before driving back to the hotel.

Back to the hotel for a short rest then eight of us went into town by taxi. Lots of buildings with decorative lighting, lots of neon lighting and massive televisions on the sides of buildings. We went into a large shopping complex, similar to large complexes at home but more modern and quirky displays. The only night I didn't have my camera on me.

We arrived in Hangzhou, ready for our journey to Moganshan. Moganshan is a small town, famous amongst the Chinese for being a tourist resort for the rich Chinese. Chairman Mao's summerhouse was located in Moganshan and was one of the optional activities during our stay. These thoughts push me to think about our society and our contradictions which are difficult to catch since I am submerged in them. As one of my old anthropology professors said in one of his brilliant book ("Noi primitivi" - Francesco Remotti) we need to do a "giro lungo" (long tour) meeting different cultures, going far away from our house to better understand ourself.

... got to see an original emperor gown (which the company bought back from an auction house in Japan - part of the spoils of the war) as well as a replica. The replica took 3 years to make.
