... is where the fun started and stopped... Our supposed 2 hours back to Shanghai turned into over 4 hours, most of which was crawling through traffic. Having spent over 8 hours travelling the day before and an hour already that day, we all agreed the 13 hours of travel was nowhere near made up for by the sites - plus we had to leave the glorious Pudi Boutique Hotel!! It was weird to have paid good money for 2 days I wouldn't re-experience for free. ...

... new friends setting up their tables and food out on the pavement, so we moved outside and had a fabulous evening watching the world go by and exploring the stalls. The stall right in front of the restaurant was selling scorpions, spiders, centipedes and snakes - my first sight of exotic food in China!

... joining our team so I will continue to be Ally laoshi. I tried a sandwich shop on Yongkang for lunch one day and am hooked. It was the Avocado Gentleman at Funkadeli and had mozzarella and grilled veggies- delicious. I've included a picture of the pool I swim at as well as the gardenia bushes outside my apartment. ... local governorship has resulted in some innovative ideas. All public transport is electric, as are the scooters and a good portion of the cars. Motorbikes are banned as they are too noisy. Instead of charging cars by plugging in to an outlet the government has set up battery stations where you go in and swap your car battery with a fresh one when needed. Today we left Guilin and headed to Hangzhou. Being just a 2.5hr flight away it shouldn't be too difficult, but it was not to be so. Due to torrential rain in Guilin our flight was delayed and we ended spending 10 hours in a small local airport with many many others.
