Goodbye Ireland

A travel blog entry by tanyaboyer

Well today we said goodbye to Ireland and therefore it is worthy of us doing a top 5. 1. G wants to put the Guinness storehouse as his top pick and I wouldn't expect otherwise as it is the home land of that black malt drink. 2. Titanic museum, very well done and extremely respectful to the families of those whose lives were lost in the iconic …

Our Last Day in London

A travel blog entry by fitchett

We had our last meal at the Wykeham Arms with an English breakfast and then got a taxi to the station to travel to London. Time is short and we wanted to make the most of the day so we got the first train after 9.00 am – when the off peak period and cheaper tickets start.

It was a great day to be in London as it was the celebration …

Trains, planes, and automobiles.

Utilized most modes of transport today. Bus to the airport, Areoplane to London Gatwick, train to our hotel near Kings Cross, and taxi to a local pub. In the next 24 hrs we will have crossed 3 time zones and have had to use 3 different currencies. Did you know that at the Dalaman Turkey airport McDonalds, you can order a large fries and a pint of …

Getting to London

A travel blog entry by fitchett

We were due at Wellington Airport for our flight to Auckland by 6.30pm and got there with a few minutes to spare. Marion was in a great hurry to get to the Koru Lounge to see the wedding, so did not loiter to spend any money. We were welcomed into the Lounge by two ladies in long wedding dresses and tiaras. The toilets were labelled princes and …

London Bridge is Falling Down

A travel blog entry by kbelland

SO London! Was Amazing! I loved everything about the city. So modern, lively, and exciting. I love the English style. It’s so different. The people were great! So much to see! We saw so much! If London was in the U.S. it is where I would want to live. I love the style. The clothes are so trendy. Wish I could pull it off. So Kristin, Lisa, and …

    great hotel

I always find it difficult to pick a hotel sight unseen over the internet. no matter how good the research i am always nervous until we get here. The Megaro is great! a bit funky. big room. Christian is on the sofa bed and E was supposed to sleep with him but he appropriated the chaise lounge that was part of the sofa. so they both have their own sleeping space. There is a little closet with an espresso maker in it, as well as a tiny bar fridge, kettle, teapot and loose tea. Lovely! I've made a pot every day. :) The water temperature in the shower on Day 1 was too hot for COlin, so just short of boiling. we asked at the front desk and they had it fixed when we came back at the end of the day. Very nice service. Bonus is that we are on the 6th/top floor in the corner. It's a bit loud (ammbulance going by as I type this) bbut the view is awesome. WE look right out at King's Cross station, with St Pancras to the left. Huge corner window and 4 other windows.
The attached restaurant, Karpo, is quite small, quirky, and has a small menu. But it is cozy and friendly and the food is excellent. Favourites are the cherry & vanilla pancakes, the banana pecan muffin, and the fruit smoothies. Had supper there tonight and Colin declared teh pork chop to be one the top 2 he has evver eaten. My rabbit pie was very tasty and E's mussels were devoured.
