      ... the Ducal Palace (though why she needs alcohol when she is so high on art remains a mystery!) and then returned to the hotel to relax and freshen up before dinner.

      Tomorrow we move on to Parma (famous for its cheese) by way of a four hour taxi, bus and train trip. The actual travel time is much less than this, but of course you have to allow for connections etc. Meanwhile, enjoy the blog and the photos ...

Then Joy rounded the last screen and there she was......Bianca Sforza, La bella principessa herself......a small painting displayed on a screen all by itself in this huge room...... And no indication on the internet or anywhere that it would be here. Palpitations, skips and jumps, gasps of wonder.....it is exquisite.       ... a good menu of local dishes, and very reasonably priced: three courses, plus wine, dessert and coffee, came to 41.50, and could not have been faulted. We reckon on going back there tomorrow.

      Speaking of which, that will be our last chance to visit the town's National Gallery, which has been closed for the holiday so far. Hopefully it will be open tomorrow, as it has several paintings by Joys boyfriends and it is in the beautiful and historic Ducal ...

      We had been advised by our hotel, when we booked our accommodation, that we should book our dinner for New Years Eve as everywhere would be fairly crowded. They kindly gave us a small list of places and we decided on La Trattoria del Leone (di Mauro Lucarini) as being our sort of place..... And we duly downloaded a menu and chose what we fancied on it.....

      ... sand, we though it might be a worthwhile cruise, however the promenade as so far back from the sea that it was not rewarding. We
