I first visited Tenerife in 1970 with my parents, it was our second holiday abroad. I have been returning ever since. First with my young children, and now just my wife and I. Although the children, now adults in there 20s still ask, 'when can we come'.
A couple of years ago, we bought a second home just outside Puerto de la Cruz, with a view of spending the winter months here in our retirement. In the meantime we come out two or three times a year 'on holiday'.

Costa Adeje, Spain paulatluxury... cabin mate had a guest, thus he asked me if he could stay here for a little while. Sure. While I was taking a shower, I heard a phone ringing and he picked it up. I thought: "Why is he so stupid? Picking up the phone from MY cabin? Doesn`t he know how fast gossips spread out around the ship? Before you finish brushing your teeth the whole 700 crew members will know who was staying in my cabin". But when I got off the shower, Ronnie decided we`d go to ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands bogna... wifi access I was using. Our condo unit was just out of range of a neighboring wifi shop so to get proper signal strength I had to sit on the tile floor behind the wall of the outdoor cafe - not very comfortable.... For the evening, we watched our final sunset with our favourite glass of wine - Jaume Serra Cabinet Sauvignon - Roble 2005 from Spain. ($4.40 E - I'll have to check back home if it's available). John, Dale and I went to Corinto, a restaurant we had visited ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35... because we of course had to stop at a little town for the 'opportunity' to buy local crafts/souvenirs. The tour included a guide who spoke German and English (no Spanish!?) The tour guide sounded like Steven Hawking with a German accent! In a word, he was terrible as we could barely understand him and he seemed so bored and uninterested in what he was reciting. We did learn that the 'Canarian potatoes' are prepared by cooking in sea water which ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35Today was all about suntanning and homemade tapas. First we decided to walk to the cliff just to the west of our condo and try finding a secluded suntanning spot along with a little exploration. We walked along the beach and then across a rocky patch until we were at some cliffs with gigantic boulders beneath them. It was very quiet where all you could hear were the waves crashing against the shore and rocks. It was ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35Today we just walked around the beaches and shopping areas of Los Cristianos and Los Americanos - the 2 resort areas of the southern tip of Tenerife. It looked like it was going to rain in the early afternoon but it again cleared up and was a beautiful 20 degrees. Andy and I had a wonderful pistachio ice cream cone on sitting on a bench by the beach. We also had a lousy burger ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35We woke up at 7am to start our trip via the metro to the airport. The metro wasn't too crowed considering it was rush hour. We reveresed our metro stops from when we arrived and it took about 40 minutes to get to the airport. It was very cheap since we still had the metro tickets left from the 10 pack we bought when we arrived. It did cost 1 Euro to exit the metro system at the airport (airport supplement fee they call it). We flew on Spanair - a low cost ...
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35... At a stop near the base of the Mt we had a 30 min photo opportunity, arriving back at the coach before the allotted time we quickly discovered that our wonderful guide had already instructed the driver to depart prior to us getting back, and it was only the couple sitting opposite us that raised the alarm that we weren't back which immediately halted the coaches departure, the guide told us later she was preoccupied viewing her photos!! After ...
