Nog even genieten...
We hadden net ons tentje definitief …

A Day and a Half in Perth
We caught a flight from Singapore to Perth at 1am on 15 January 2011, which was about another 5 hours, again we could not sleep.
We arrived at our hotel about 7am and even though we had specifically asked for an early check in they still could not check us in until 10am.
So once again we decided …

As it turns out, there is no trench or pipeline, never has been and probably never will be. Seriously, how do labour hire agencies get it so wrong so often? What we actually had to do with move a load of rocks and then cover them with dirt. They're 'contaminated' apparently. What with I don't know or care.

Historical Traveler Reviews Medina Executive Barrack Plaza Perth
Great location
We spent 6 nights here in May and would highly recommend it. Its modern, clean and perfectly located. Some of the shops along the street are a little seedy but its perfectly located for the station, the river, trips and restaurants etc. We would definitely use it again.
Ottima posizione
Great Location
We have just returned from Perth and stayed for 5 nights at Medina Executive Barrack Plaza. The location is excellent and we could walk to the train station, ferry terminal and main shopping malls. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment on the third floor. The kitchen is fully furnished and the bed is extremely comfortable. The room is clean and nice.
The only slight disappointment is the view from the small balcony. We could only see the back lanes/alleys of the nearby shops. However, the excellent location and cleanliness of the apartment made up for the lack of view.
The gym was small but good enough for a workout.
Overall, a pleasant stay!
Great place to stay in city centre
A work colleague and I recently stayed three nights in a two bedroom non-smoking apartment on the 9th floor at the Medina Executive Barrack Plaza or the "Medina Apartments" as most people in Perth seem to call it. The apartment was clean and very spacious, with a well appointed kitchen. Each of the bedrooms had a king-size bed and its own large ensuite bathroom. The beds were firm and comfortable with crisp sheets and quilts.
It was nice to have our own small balcony even if it did mainly overlook a parking area. We could just see the Swan River peaking between the buildings. Despite being in the centre of the city, we were pleased to find that the apartment was very quiet.
The foyer of the Medina is unassuming but the desk staff were friendly and helpful. Our apartment was well serviced each day. We even found that the cleaning staff went beyond our expectations and washed up a few cups and plates that we had left on the kitchen sink one morning.
If you don't feel like self-catering, there is a cafe downstairs on the ground floor. It is rather small but the breakfast servings were generous and the coffee good. Room service is available from the cafe. There are a number of takeaways and restuarants nearby - we enjoyed a good meal and talented guitarist at Miss Maud's Swedish Restaurant which is on the next block on Murray Street .
The Medina Apartments are very conveniently located near Perth's shopping malls (there's a Woolworths nearby if you want to stock up on some groceries) and the Perth train station is a couple of minutes walk away. Perth has a good public transport system if you want to venture further afield.
I booked the Medina Medina Executive Barrack Plaza online through one of the WA tourist sites and got a deal that included an airport transfer and some bonus vouchers so the cost for the two bedroom apartment worked out at about $230 a night for the two of us. It was a great and cheaper alternative to two separate hotel rooms.
I would definitely stay at the Medina again; not only when working but it would be a good central base for a family holiday.
All the comforts of home
We spent two nights at the Medina Executive Barrack Plaza this past weekend. We'd booked a one bedroom apartment online at the rate of A$170. Although we arrived well before 2 pm check in, we were promptly given an apartment - a two bedroom unit.
Our third floor apartment was excellent - two bedrooms with king sized beds, two bathrooms, two flat screen TVs, a safe in the master bedroom closet. There was a desk and phone in the hall and the kitchen was fully equipped with fridge, dishwasher, dishes and cutlery - all we needed and more.
The lounge/dining area was spacious and the apartment was spotless and fresh - we were very comfortable during our stay.
We had the same odd patio arrangement with the neighboring hostel/apartment that was mentioned in an earlier review - in fact I think we had the same apartment (third floor, #15). It was strange to see people and laundry hung out to dry mere steps away through the lounge window. This could have been minimized by adding more substantial curtains, instead of the sheers that allowed us to see our neighbors and our neighbors to see us. It wasn't a problem though - no noise or disturbance, just a bit odd; we had to be careful to not run about the lounge half dressed.
The parking situation was interesting - we were told we had to book a spot in advance, which we did; the charge was A$16.50 per day. The parking garage is accessed from Wellington Street via a narrow drive situated between the neighboring buildings. To enter the garage you must pass through two security gates, which are accessed with your key card. Definitely "secure" parking!
Liked this Medina a whole lot better than the Medina Grand and would definitely stay here again.
EXCELLENT HOTEL
stayed here for 3 nights, from 11th December, it's quite a new appart hotel, so everything it lovely and clean and modern. We stayed in the 2 bed superior appartment no 315, which was at the back of the hotel, the appartment it's self was great with a kitchen and a small supply of milk, tea etc, so we had something to drink, before we got organised. The hotel is on barrack street, which is really central for the railway and the pier where all the boat trips leave from, and 2mins from the big shopping malls, great location. There is a bar/cafe downstairs, which we didn't try, but it looked fine for breakfast, although it did close at 9.0pm as did most of Perth, so if you arrive late, go straight out for a meal before everything shuts!
The only thing I would say about our particular room was the view, the hotel has been built in one of the less fancy areas and behind is a backpackers lodgings, our room looked straight into the hostel, in fact, when they were outside chilling on the fire escape, you could have shook hands over the balcony, I was worried about the noise and would have asked for a change of room if required, but as it happens they were very quiet, it was quite surreal, staying in the luxury of a 4* hotel and being able to look in on another side of life at very close quarters!
We booked via a travel agent and I think you get what you are given, I would always book the hotel direct and ask more questions about the room etc.
All in all a great stay....................
Beautiful Hotel
I stayed in this property 3 times for business. I have stayed in both the two bedroom and one bedroom apartment.
THe room is really modern with modern decor, very nice TV's and great furniture. The location is fantastic and you are only 30 metres walk from the main mall in PErth. If you need the train, you are also close to the train station and bus station.
The only thing is that there is no real restaurant in the apartments. There is a cafe which I only ate breakfast at but I didn't try their room service. It is also connected to a funky bar if you want to go down and have a drink.
The staff at the hotel are really friendly and efficient. I have also recommended this hotel to a friend who stayed there and also loved it. The bed is comfortable and comes with fresh crisp linen.
Be careful when you are booking not to confuse this one with their other property which is the Medina Grand. I've never stayed at the other one however this is the nice new one. Im pretty fussy when it comes to hotels and I would reccomend this hotel.
Barrack for the Medina Executive on Barrack!, Perth
The Medina Executive apartments on Barrack St, Perth WA was a delightful stay. The hotel has recently opened with specials at about $160 a night (going up to $180).
We stayed in the premier suite which consisted of two bedrooms, lounge/dining area, kitchen and bathroom.
The hotel smells and looks brand new, with ultra modern furnishing and large king size bed in the main.
There are two flat screen tv's, a cd mini hi-fi and all the usual mod cons needed for everyday living. The rooms are promptly serviced and the location is central to Perth's CBD, close to shops, restaurants and public transport.
The only thing we missed was the fridge wasn't stocked with milk on the first night.
The parking is accessed from a side street which is a bit of a pain due to the constant median strips on Perth's roads but otherwise it was great!
