The girls hung out with Lydia, Christina and baby Pia eating apple pie and coffee. Opa (Hans) and Oma Betschel (our Opa's brother and wife) visited which was just lovely to meet them. We then enjoyed a traditional German dinner at Lydia's house of white sausages, knodel, pretzels (soft) and potato salad- enjoyed by all. The kids all fell asleep at her house by 7pm- they are still trying to get used to the time difference. We enjoyed time with them talking about family and catching up.

... were still buzzing with excitement. QATAR airways had special meals and Sponge Bob square pants activity packs for the kids. We were also very happy to be travelling with Ben. We had a smooth first leg (apart Rafa being sick twice) which was 14 and a half hours with minimal sleep from all the excitement. We did our transfer at Doha airport (which was just beautiful) and then went off to Berlin. 7 hours later we arrived, got our luggage and caught a bus ...

... climb the church tower (280 steps) which gave great views over the town and surrounding land. (In Amsterdam you pay €7.50 to climb the Westerkerk church tower!)
All in all a pleasant, picturesque town, with affordable cafes and parking and friendly people, though most visitors were a bit old. Made me feel so young!
