It's odd, how un-summer it feels for me. It could be because I feel like I cheated winter, as there was barely any snow in Geneva, yet Boston had one of the worst winters on record. This is also much earlier than I would have gotten out if I were in Boston as well, so maybe that's it. It's probably the fact that I cannot wrap my head around what I will actually be doing for the next four weeks, though.

... the tram back to Geneva CBD, walked around the lakeside, had a drink lakeside then back to room for a rest. Dinner at Chinese restaurant opposite the train station. Went to Brittania pub for a show - ACDC cover band, not very good. Very cold ...

Breakfast in room, picked up our tickets from the train station and changed some money from CHF to Euro. Walked to lake Geneva, took a boat ride on the lake - very cold out on the lake. ... I would have never imagined I'd see the Swiss alps on a spring break tour. This was probably the first bus ride I did not fall asleep on and it may have been because I was too excited to get there.

The town was charming too, and I wish we had even more time here. Lunch was ok, the service was slow, but it was also a small place. It was nice to eat with the whole group though! And the coffee selection was huge!!

... and actually see the CMS, which was pretty incredible. The photos don't do it justice – it is just so big and so intricate. The engineers who came up with the design of the thing must be just as genius as the scientists who use the equipment. Unfortunately we didn't get to go into the tunnel and see the collider pipeline underground, but we were lucky to see anything at all. This time next year it will be too dangerous to be anywhere near the CMS ...
