... a spokesperson you have to be contracted as one). So instead of just grabbing coffee, Winnie invited me to spend the afternoon with her at the HQ in Geneva, and I obviously leaped at the chance. She showed me around the building, including the big UN-esque room, the "SHOC" (Strategic Health Operations Center) room, and where all the communications people (herself included) work. ... and actually see the CMS, which was pretty incredible. The photos don't do it justice – it is just so big and so intricate. The engineers who came up with the design of the thing must be just as genius as the scientists who use the equipment. Unfortunately we didn't get to go into the tunnel and see the collider pipeline underground, but we were lucky to see anything at all. This time next year it will be too dangerous to be anywhere near the CMS ...

... a rather big wooden.. well, globe. It's supposed to represent sustainability. CERN itself (at least the visitor's reception that we went to) was pretty unimpressive by contrast. Just a small white square building. But doesn't matter, it wasn't the superstar, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) was. I had wanted to go for a guided tour to CERN but trying to book online showed that *ALL* the dates were fully booked. Apparently, you're advised to book 1-2 months ...

... was beautiful and and as the movie goes...the hills were alive...with the sound of motorcycles? Haha. Well I guess it wasn't exactly like the movie. We came across some motorbike speed racers using the twists and turns of the road as there practice course. It was definitely exciting to watch them turn so hard their knee pads would skim the pavement, I guess thats one of the reasons they wear them. After trying to snap a few photos we headed to the other side to check ...
