... It is chips, gravy and cheese. It was delicious, greasy and guilt inducing. I look forward to sampling it elsewhere. In particular, Nikki the lady from the UK worked in a place in Jasper - The Olive - which does one with Mozzarella and truffle oil, a more gourmet version. I am definitely having it when I go there. Nikki didn't just work there, she made them!
I'm now onto Ottawa, which everyone has told me is boring, so I'm thinking it will be similar to Canberra.
... getting tired of watching every step I had to take so called it a day. Made my way back to the hotel for a short rest before heading out shopping. I am so proud of myself that I have finally worked out the metro and today is the final day of my pass. I walked past a nice boutique yesterday with some dresses that I liked. I saw one price tag and said "wow" to myself, but still wanted to go. I haven't bought a lot of things ...
... I have a hair straightener and perfume - two items that were sadly lacking at the beginning of the trip. Although, here in Montreal, my hair is silky smooth. Wandered around a bit more and realised it was wine time. Went to the bar attached to the hotel and asked for a wine list. The grumpy waitress said the menus were being redone and we just had to tell her what we wanted. We ordered a glass of wine each and some olives. She sneered at us and off she went. ...
... Some was also used to expand Île Sainte-Hélène. I got the train from the park to the Westmont neighborhood, where the lonely planet guid said I would find great bagels. I got off at Atwater and found myself in a shopping center. I worked my way up to ground level and found saint-Catherine's street it was only a few block to Bagels on Greene. I had a garlic bagel with cream cheese and a coffee. The bagel was really good, I sat outside and enjoyed while people ...
... beautiful and charming parks throughout the plateau, and, most notably, some amazing restaurants including: Au Pain Perdu (look up jambon effiloché - deadly), Le Reservoir (the power went out - a very authentic? experience), and La Fabrique (one of Audrey and Julien's favourite eateries, essentially Québec's answer to NOtaBLE). We are eating our way around the world. It's hard to believe it has only been 12 ...
