... to cut a long story short, negotiations between Maori representatives and the museum in Leiden (seems it took a couple of European summers) resulted in a compromise- Leiden would buy two waka, a fake fiberglass one to paddle and a carved kauri tree ceremonial one to be looked at, and of course, the ceremonial one would need a special house to live in….

I don't believe what I did today! It was totally off the cuff but even more enjoyable because of that. I paddled a canoe up the Leiden canal. But it wasn't any old canoe, it was the Maori waka teetee kura from New Zealand.

Hii!

I've been in Amsterdam for exactly a month today, and I'm really feeling like this city is my home. It's so strange thinking about how much has happened so far in my time here, and that there is so much more to look forward to!!
