Like Lamanai, they successfully fought the Spanish Conquistadors but was unable to deal with some of the new diseases that the Spanish unintentionally brought with them.     We arrived at Cancun airport after our connection in Mexico City, and we were exhausted. It was close to midnight and we still had an hour transfer to our apartment near Playa del Carmen.
