    ... in my life. Crater Lake formed when Mount Mazama erupted in the year 5667. In that explosion, the mountain collapsed into the caldera, and over time, the caldera filled with water and that water formed Crater Lake. Crater Lake was formed about 7,700 years ago.

    Moving onwards now...

    Departing San Diego today we had our last internal flight to sacramento where we picked up our hire car - 2014 Ford Focus and began our scenic drive through Northern California.

    The top of Cali is mostly flat farm land. Lots of crops - grapes, olives, sunflowers and more. We stopped off for lunch in a small town called Redding. Once back on the road the terrain changed drastically.

    ... set grows back they are limited to where they can go on the ground and through the water... In almost all cases these birds summer and nest at the time they molt and shed their feathers.... this is usually in a protected area... an area where they can nest and move from land to the water and feed...

    Because these birds travel such a large area, Fish and Wildlife people in the US, Canada, Mexico ...
