Dinner tonight is in their French restaurant. We are welcomed by an English speaking waiter from Sri Lanka. Knowing he would have English speaking guests, he had kindly translated tonight's menu into English and printed it out for us. The food is surprisingly delicious and beautifully plated, you don't quite expect a French chef in a family type resort in Kusatsu. As it turns out the chef had worked at the embassy in Italy which explains it ...

We board the Hokuriko Shinkansen to Nagano at Tokyo Station. The Hokuriko Line was launched March 14, 2015, and connects Tokyo to Kanazawa. After the train arrives in Tokyo from Kanazawa a cleaning crew boards the train to clean it before passengers are allowed to enter. The train has comfy seats and we love the very smooth and ultra quiet trainride. We arrive 90 minutes later in Nagano where we booked a car with Nippon Rental Car, their office is just outside ...

This morning, once again, we woke up to a white snowy wonderland. We had a delicious Japanese breakfast of salmon, rice, miso soup, and a tofu, which filled prepped us for the day of snowboarding ahead. After breakfast, we got on the bus and headed to the slopes. We met up with our instructor for the day and headed off to the same beginner slope as yesterday. After a couple of runs on that slope, our instructor brought us onto ...

... bought a fleece bandana and ski gloves as mine could not withstand the cold weather. Once again, I took a hot shower before going for a yummy dinner once again cooked by the owners. We started with a clam chowder soup, a potato croquette w/ pumpkins, roasted chicken w/ potatoes & rice, and finally a Christmas log cake for dessert. Now I'm just chilling in the lounge area with my family with a nice heated blanket. I'm very excited for another day of snowboarding ...

After an overnight flight from Singapore Changi airport, we arrived in Tokyo Haneda airport at 6am (JP time). Changing twice on the subway and Shinkansen (high speed train), we finally arrived at Yuzawa about 2 hours later. We planned on staying at the Guest House Vingt-Neuf which was a small family owned lodge which was extremely cosy and cute. After a short nap in our rooms, my dad and I decided to check out the slopes. The girl at the counter, who spoke ...
