We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.
The places were very beautiful and again the excursions didn't disappoint ...

June 23, 5:31 AM -- Igoumenitsa, Greece The ferry, naturally, became a little less charming when everyone else had boarded. I stayed outside during embarkation, but retreated in once it got too cold (I didn't pack any long pants). Went to the dining area and ordered two portions of salmon and a ham+egg salad. The pasta dishes were both homemade and delicious and the osso buco was rich and orange-y. Desert was on the house, chocolate mousse and creme brulee. The mousse was airy, but the brulee wasnt set. It was very tasty regardless though.
We thanked the host and the chef, his brother, and went home and straight into food comas.

Bit of excitement this morning – totally forgot the hour forward clock changing thing last night so we were all merrily going about our business this morning when I remembered and we went from having heaps of time to having to do breakfast, teeth and dressing in 30 minutes. Had to be in the theatre getting into our tour groups by 0730 for an 0745 departure.

... a taxi to the border, a bus to Igoumenistra and a ferry to Corfu. Way too complicated and time-consuming. There are package tours available from travel agents in Corfu Town, but they cost 100 euros and, more importantly, it’s not like you really get to know a place or the people in a situation like that. Sophie wanted to rent a car, but further research ...
