... and we had about one hour before the ship was scheduled to sail at 8 pm. Sandra was nursing a cold (blame the bus air conditioning), so she headed back to the ship with David and Holly while the rest of us strolled the shops that were still open. I found a couple of reasonable souvenirs among the stores offering traditional Cretan artwork, copies of pieces from different archaeological museums, jewelry and embroidery. And Yahoo! I found an ATM ...
Crete, Greece brianporterWell I suppose we were pretty spoilt in Santorini. But I have to say Crete wasn't exactly what we had in mind!
We left Santorini on the slow boat (took about 3 hours) to Crete (which we heard was fabulous) and were sorely disappointed!
The weather was grey and pouring with rain - like really p!ssing down - and neither of us had any wet weather gear (or cagoules). Bugger. Not such good weather for people with yucky head colds!
Anyway, we ...
Yesterday we got up at 5am in order to catch our plane from Santorini. Most of our group was on the same plane , so we said our sleepy good byes. We flew on Aegean Air which has nice new planes. We went to Athens and then basically retraced the short flight by flying to Crete. We staggered into hotel Lato at 10am where we received a special bonus upgrade to the 5th floor executive suite. 2 rooms on the 5th floor with an ...
Heraklion, Crete, Greece nsadventures... was magic but the cocktails were dreadful. Kevin’s martini had ouzo in it but the barman refused to do another. Chris’ margharita seemed to be alcohol free and Milly’s Manhattan didn’t taste very good. So we moved to Axos for more drinks – this time excellent, and then to our favourite eating place, Yannis, for dinner. The drinks and food there were superb too and they gave us free cheese pies and raki (as if we needed more booze). Nice.
Heraklion, Crete, Greece kevino101... on the house with George. There is a wonderful array of people sitting at the bar in the evening,(mostly long time friends of George) of all ages and from all over the world and they just all seem to gel even though some of them have just got to know each other. We spent some wonderful evenings at this bar and are so thankful we found this campsite as it is by far the best, cheapest and friendliest on Crete.
It is a very clean and has ...
... ago whemn it said it was still delayed! So we rushed towards our gate (of course first through security) and me making some impressive acrobatic moves trying not to fall with my slippery flipflops on the marble stones. But we made it and are now on our way to Crete! I think that's all for now. Oh I just spend £2,- on a cup of tea! How expensive can it be?!

Biserica a ars acum zece ani si are nevoie de bani, nu reduce preturile nici in extrasezon.
- Nu avem nevoie de vedere la mare, ceva mai ...
... of this exact figurine in a book when I was in fifth grade. I cannot believe I am looking at the original object. Indy showed us the famous "Agia Triada Sarcophagus," dated to 1300 BCE. When it was first found in the bad old days of sloppy archaeology, it was covered in a crusty material and the researchers couldn't tell that it was anything special, so they left it in a pile of rocks at the excavation site. The archaeologists had a drunken party one night, and a ...
Heraklion, Greece tiara316... once save for a vine that miraculously was close by and allowed me to grab on. Avi, my friend from Israel fell and was dangling by his leg for a few minutes while Bobby, our friend, resued him. It was very fun and tiring. Ended up going to the PIg Beach on the second day. Pig Beach gets its name for its appeal to Germans who Greeks in town call pigs. It is a nude beach, which isn't really that big of a thrill once you ...
