The next stage in our introduction to Asian busing was our trip from Lovina to Pemuteran, which is another beach "town" more known for snorkeling/diving. Pemuteran was very strange because it was not really a town so much as it was a building here and there along a road. Am ready to jump in the water in Gilimanuk and to explore the area again. We had two really good dives there although the water was quite refreshing (not to say cold, unfortunately I only brought a 2.5mm wetsuit).
We saw some really nice frogfish, lots of pufferfish, quite a lot of batfish, and incredible swarm of catfish and loads of other fishswarms...
After two muck dives we started our hunt for a decent priced homestay/hotel ...
... coral. After the dive i left my luxury pad and checked into the Arjuna Homestay which as well as having 15 nice rooms has a six bed dorm for 75,000INR a night (and it’s got a swimming pool). The place only opened in July so is brand spanking new and the owners really friendly. It also has an on-site dive shop – Dive Concepts. It may well be at the top of my list of favourite hostels i’ve stayed. ...
... and eating from the stalls on the side of the road. We didn’t really have an option as the only tourists we have met are 2 other couples who were passing through. It’s not really a designated tourist stop. But the locals loved practicing their english on us. We had a policeman come to our hotel and sit outside practicing his english, we were starving for dinner and didn’t think he would leave!
