... busy road for a while, and then twigged that there was a fishing village quite close. I love villages because they are so radically different to much of the Hong Kong Island life; instead of bankers spending big money, there's just lots of topless old men sitting around playing mahjong and gossiping women selling fish. Anyway, I was pretty glad we avoided the beach but I'm gutted not to be able to show you a working landfill. Maybe next time ...

Thursdays itinerary had us go to a nunnery in the morning which had lots of large Bonsai trees in and around it. The garden was also beautiful and so serene but the very tall apartment blocks in the background looked odd in the background!

... later we enjoyed cocktails in the lounge before going to the Brasserie restaurant in the hotel for dinner.

Dinner was a relaxed affair.
We started with 2 glasses of Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne 2005 vintage.

Barry had a rib eye steak, while Libby had provenšale style roasted rack of lamb

We then had dessert - the famous and enormous souffle with a choice of sauces.

So ended day 1

... but our first destination today was the Victoria peak tram. We arrived there and hopped off the bus, got in the queue for our tickets and hopped on the next tram. The ride up was steep, very steep in parts, but it was pretty cool.
