First Christmas in New Zealand 3.
After spending Christmas Day & Boxing Day in Wellington it was off to Napier the Art Deco City were we stayed at the Masonic Hotel which was lovely. Napier became the Art Deco City after it was rebuilt following an Earthquake. We took photo's of the city and went on a bus tour.

... mitten unter den Weinreben, die Esk Valley Lodge, wo wir zuerst vom Haushund Roxy, einem Dobermann-Labrador-Mischling, und dann von Jes und Eileen, den Besitzern und Weinfarmern. Es gibt Wein, Cracker und Käse, während wir uns eine Stunde unterhalten, anschließend fahren wir die paar Kilometer nach Napier zum Abendessen.

... in the back. As she drives us to our meeting point with Vince she has a little head set on, which makes her audible throughout the tiny 8 seater mini van (perhaps she was just trying to preserve her voice!?), and she rabbles on about the upcoming weekend election in a very endearing way.
When we reach the meeting point we get out but the Aussie's don't as they have to meet other Aussies off a cruise ship and have the tour with her - Vince's wife rolls ...

A Big Day: Travel & Rugby
Today we made the 6 hour drive from Auckland to Napier, on the east coast of the north island. When we left this morning, it was pouring rain in Auckland - a change from the on and off drizzle we've had most days.
We arranged to pick up two friends from back home in Toronto (Bram & Tayo), who had spend the last couple of days in Parnell, a nice part of Auckland close to downtown. We arranged to give them a lift to Napier with us.
