My last two days in Tenerife

A travel blog entry by btfreder on Jun 21, 2014

... seen. We had an awesome view of Santa Cruz from the balconies to our side, and the chairs we sat in were so comfy they felt like sofas. Our coordinators treated us tonight to some fresh wine and Sangrķa, and we got constant refills on bread--which I always love. Dinner was different for everyone, because we actually got to order our own food tonight (a rare occasion here). I had a salad for my first course (it was really more like cole slaw, but they call it "ensalada cubana") ...

... pain. Laura was the resident we followed today, and she was very nice. She was super eager to practice her English with us, and since Mary Hunter doesn't speak much Spanish, I conceded to speaking mostly English in today's shadowing experience. The first patient we saw was a woman from Holland who was on vacation in Tenerife with her husband. She was obese, and experienced premature contractions. Since she was only at 24 months when she arrived at the hospital ...

A travel blog entry by btfreder on Jun 14, 2014

Who would have thought Tenerife would be the place to try on my 'travelling boots' once again; it is not a back packers place of discovery, adventure or contact with the indigenous population but it is away and somewhere I had not yet visited.

The four hour flight from Gatwick was wonderful, (mainly because I had spent too long grounded in the UK), regretfully the airport assistance was needed to transfer me from the check-in to the aircraft. ...

      Week3---WEEKEND---week4

A travel blog entry by btfreder on Jun 11, 2014

... trip, and since it's been awhile since any of us have had semi-American food, we all dug in.

The next morning, we went on a hike in a northern part of the island called Teno--a mountainous region. Since we were at such a high elevation, the vegetation was very similar to that of deserts--all kinds of cactus and weird flowers/shrubs that only grow in places where water is in short supply. The views from the trail were totally amazing; we were right on the edge of the ...
