    ... lunch and a pleasant drive home. Although our GPS tried to take us up another tramway- we didn't follow him this time.

  • We call in at the castle for " last drinks" . I am still on the Perrier!
  • Back at our B&B, get invited out for drinks with Annie and Jean-Michel. Mean to have an early night but get to bed at midnight. Set alarm for early start tomorrow. Have 700 km drive to the Pyrenees.

    It's time to make my way from Nice back up towards Paris and stop number one is Avignon. Avignon is a little town in France and is built with a fortress wall all the way around the town. I stayed at the POP hostel which hands down has the best hostel bed in Europe. Unfortunately I do not have a picture but hopefully my description will do it ...

    In the 587 Saint Casarie died and was buried on Mt Andaon. Her burial place became the site of the Abbey. By the 14th century 90 monks lived here. The monks were dispersed during the French Revolution in 1792. It became a hospital and was privately owned from about 1950 to 2013.
