As we now needed to be in Barcelona in 5 days to meet Kim's mum it was time to say goodbye to Italy. As the day was overcast and the drive on the autopista easy we just kept on driving (from 8am until 5.30pm) and arrived into Les Acrs in France time for a beer and dinner then bed.

As we had stayed in a free Aire last night we were able to top up water, clean the toilet and then give Scooby ...
... over 1.5 million tourists each year as it is the source of a natural spring. It's wierd seeing a fast flowing river and then walking 50 metres "upstream" and there only being a trickle.. and then a bit further and no water... nothing but a big cliff straight up!
The town itself is nestled in a valley and is particularly pretty at dusk when rocks take on the colours of the sunset ...
... and Rhone. Built in 90 AD it’s hard to imagine all the events that have taken place in this building. Walking around and around, I tried to imagine it filled with 20 000 screaming fans as gladiators ripped apart animals, but it was hard. From Medieval times to the 1830’s, it was bricked up and used as a fortified city. 212 housed and 2 churches made their home ...
Arles, Provence, France 2totango... I’ve seen in Arles, Vincent had it just right!
For they could not love you, but still your love was true
And when no hope was left inside on that starry, starry, night

... we were nearly blown to Marseille. Tomorrow we are going on a lunchtime cruise on the Rhone with more food and wine and before that visiting the famous bridge and hopefully we will have time to go over to see the nearby fort in the afternoon.
Then we start the final run north - first a night at Beaujolais, then 2 nights at Strasbourg and one last night at Munich before we leave Big ...
... of the dishes (which were written in a flowery script that made the names even harder to decipher), and the waiter struggled to translate. So we thought, well it’ll all be good, and none of it seemed to be brains or tripe, so we each ordered one option of all three courses. One of the first courses was no longer available so we both had a salmon dish. Now I’ve eaten a lot of salmon but this was the best ever – firm ...
Nîmes, Languedoc-Roussillon, France kevino101... was small, the view of the vinyards and fields made us realize the vastness that we couldn't see otherwise. A very long car drive later, eight and a half hours later to be exact, we arrived at a more prominant hotel in the food capital of France. Dordones. Our hotel, Le Vieux Logis, was covered in vines that stretched to the top of the building. While we missed our hosts Susan and Herman, we found that we did enjoy the more luxurious and formal style to this hotel ...
Provence, France chrisminadvntrs... Ventoux tomorrow where we will stay for 3 nights. This time tomorrow we should have all bikes together and functional. An interesting point to note: the local grocery has a nice looking Cabernet Franc (from Samure) for 4 euro. We're about to test it. More later. Dan
