... left Figueras and headed toward the most eastern point of Spain to see the lighthouse, where we had lunch before returning to the fishing village of Cadaques and to the home of Dali.

... you could not enter; instead, there was a meter at the door where you could insert a Euro which would turn the lights on in the Cathedral for 3 minutes - during this time you were supposed to peer in through the dark glass on the doors. Very strange! There was also a strange (but cool) museum of 'minature things' which you had to look through microscopes to see properly. For example, when you looked closely at the eye of one of the needles, there was a tiny caravan of camels in it.

From Barcelona, we headed north to the city of Girona, which is a small city of about 100,000 people. It's the Ryanair hub for Barcelona (flights to Barcelona fly to Barcelona-Girona), despite the city being some 1.5 hours from Barcelona by high-speed train (150km/h).

Grey sandy beach in the central area of the main bay and then narrow roadways each side and the stores and houses hug the sides and up the hill. All very compact and picture postcard pretty. The walk around the village was steep and needed careful footwork as the laneways have very old and uneven stonework.

Picked up the camper van today after a huge delay...I guess they were working on Spanish time. We were supposed to get it at 1030am so we left Alex's house in time to get there, on the way though we got the text saying that the people who had it before us parked it illegally and it had got towed and sent to the municipal something or other.
