I spent the night in St. Remy Provence and stayed at an inn called Mas Cornud. This was along the route of Stage 13 and the next morning, I got on my bike and rode up a Category 4 climb about 1 kilometer up that the riders had ridden the day before. It wasn't too bad of a climb, but I was definately breathing heavily. At the summit of the climb, there was a pretty nice view of the valley below. I ended up riding around for about 2 hours after that with a Belgian guy I met on the climb. We got...
St. Remy Provence, France kioko... built in the 1st or 2nd Century and held 20,000. It was used for chariot races and gladiator fights and is still in use today during the bullfighting season. Very cool! Forgot to take a photo unfortunately.

Up early to make use of free Wifi - that is Kim watched the sunrise while sitting outside a closed café and scabbing their Wifi! We then we hightailed it out of Arles and towards Spain.
... which all the girls obviously enjoyed, and I’m sure will help the plants grow. There were lots of mountain bikers about and people riding, but most of the other walkers were middle aged...but we enjoyed ourselves, even if we did get awful blisters! Planning to go again soon and try a different route. I suppose we
should have checked whether our phones work up there in case we get lost...
Otherwise, there’s been a lot going on in Aix. We ...
Plan was to stay in Avignon but when we arrived we decided it was too big for us and after driving around the outide of the ramparts of the old city walls - very cool and the main thing we wanted to see - we made our way onwards to Fontaine de Vaucluse which is 20kms past Avignon. We arrived just before dark and found an Aire de Service at the edge of town where settled in for 2 days. The town ...
Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France darrenhough74... and instead went out to a great classic Provencal dinner, and got some good wine. But then, we started to see a couple kids in costumes, or rather just kids in sheets. I think one of them had a mask. But on our way back from dinner, we found the bar scene. Mostly it was just people out on a normal Saturday night, but we had to at least go check it out. We were somewhat impressed with the Halloween scene, and probably could ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France tommcatt... the security of this fortress. Brian scoped out several indents where floor beams had been inserted, and hinges for doors had been drilled, as well as a fireplace opening. After the 1830’s it’s been used for local bull-fights and has been undergoing extensive renovations. Sandblasters pierced our ears and evidence of new stone was everywhere. Part of me was sad to ...
Arles, Provence, France 2totango Starry, starry, night.
Paint your palette blue and grey.
Look out on a summer’s day,
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul.
Arrived in picturesque provencal France - immortalized by the many artist’s who have lived here over the years capturing the soft light, countryside and charming towns. Arles is our destination ...
... t remember the last time I used a blanket, let alone a sheet to stay warm at night. After our checkin, we explored the town. It was a Sunday in a smaller town in Europe, which means that there wasn't much to do. We explored the main shopping area.....it was closed. We checked out the church.....it was closed. We tried to talk to the tourist information center but....it was closed. We ended up exploring the ...
