... plus years old for the most part. It took us a moment to work out why this was so. It's not just the cleanliness of the buildings and streets, though this helps of course, it's because Urbino sits on a hill, and is alternately washed by the rain (and snow) and polished by the bright summer sun. Plus, there are few cars, and fewer chimneys, so there is little or no air pollution. Once you realise this, it is ...

Anyway, we duly timed a snack at the right time so we would be hungry enough for dinner but not too hungry as to be past it. Very clever bodies :-)

At 9.15 we left our hotel wrapped up like Eskimos and slithered the short distance to the restaurant, taking extra care on the slope down to the building itself! The two rooms were already ...

Another Micro Country - San Marino

Our original intention was to follow the coast road around the lagoons but we quickly opted
for the motorway route which would get us to San Marino much quicker and give us far more time to enjoy it. The ride was hair raising though and I arrived one hundred and fifty miles later quite out of sorts. The high speed tail gating had tested my nerves. Our fist visit was to the coastal resort of Rimini. With nine miles ...
