We've made it to France! We travelled down to Plymouth last night and stayed in a ropey hotel - very Faulty Towers! After checking in we were both a bit worried about the bikes on top of the car so went out to get them in the pouring rain and kept them in our room. When we got up this morning the rain was still going but we managed to put the bikes back on the car and get to the ferry port without any problems. Once we were on the ferry and had explored a bit we managed ...

    ... out.

Treacle came off her steroids last Wednesday and remained well for several days, but unfortunately yesterday she was sick and today she has diarrhoea again, isn't eating and is very quiet. Lets hope this is just a bug she has picked up and not the return of the colitis.

On the walk back to the van after dinner, there was a local Celtic band playing in the square in front of the church, where the market had been and there were a group of people dancing - old style folk dancing to this beautiful music. It was a lovely ending to the evening. To top it off, it's a full moon tonight and as the cloud has disappeared, the moon is easy to see. Happy ...

... three courses and wine. Slow poached egg (cooked for an hour at 50 degrees) with caramelised onions. Surprising but very good. Ocean trout for main and cake, blueberries and vanilla cream for dessert. Good thing we're riding so far. Tomorrow is forecast to be raining all day. If that turns out to be true, we may abandon the bikes and visit a few places in the van. If we're riding, we will cover about 48 kms tomorrow - provided the guide doesn't get lost ...

... four different ciders that they make here. The business has been in the family for 3 generatioons. It has definitely warmed up now and we're all going through the water. The last stretch before we reach the hotel is apparently another 20kms. I'd be happy to stop now but decide to 'suck it up' and keep going. I did have to explain to Janice that it meant I would continue riding and not take the bus. It was hotter than before, the riding was ...
