Large city, nothing at the port apart from blocked commercial entrances and a sailing school beside a vast aquarium, which would have taken a whole day to visit. Not even anywhere there to get some lunch! However, this was remedied at our evening stop at Vannes, where we had an excellent meal, including some of the best steak we've ever ...

... the plat du jour formule, a mixed grill with mash followed by a fraise gazpacho with menthe chantilly (minty flavoured cream on a strawberry purée). Jonathan had Penne Arabica, with spicy sauce and chorizo, and chocolate mousse. All delicious and washed down with half a carafe of Merlot. At 2pm it was amazing to see crowds of suited men and well dressed women suddenly swarm through the town and return to work and the cafe ...
