    ... Knights rebuilt in Malta. Although the Turks ruled justly there was a general decline in commerce and building over the next 400 years. The Italians took over the Island in 1912 and Mussolini restored much of the architecture. Eventually Rodos was handed back to Greece in 1948. Phew! A bit of a potted history!     ... love a bit of Athens. Crazy how the next two weeks are going to fly and before I know it I'll be on that long flight on my way to the other side of the world.

    We had a morning tour Sue and Darren - a lovely couple who are not about religion and are well travelled and down to earth. We had a great day with them and wish now we were doing the Holy Land with them as they have a car and driver and space for two more.........     ... when we arrived at Chora we completely missed the stairs up to the monastery but had a great time wandering around this picturesque village, spotting restaurants with views for lunch and a bakery! We came across a church which we thought might be the monastery but were shooed out by the priest as he was leaving and locking everything.
