... the 14th century by the lords of Verona & used primarily for military purposes since. Now it houses a museum & fine arts collection. Then back to the arena which was being set up for a stage show in the evening. This was a bit of a disappointment as a lot of the interior was covered in temporary seating + stage & lighting rigs etc. made it a bit hard to imagine it as it once was in Roman times..

Unfortunately that that was the end ...

... definitely racked up some brownie points.mWe also took pictures of the Rialto bridge over the Grand Canal. My day was complete when I had some pana cotta Carmel gelato - OMG! (Deliciousindulgence.wordpress.com)What a treat!!! We are now on the train headed back to the base and Dave is spent - he is asleep - LOL! But I am as well. ... when it is only 7.  Apart from that I had possibly the best meal since I've been in Italy. Swordfish and orange carpaccio, local bigoli pasta with an amazing duck sauce (poor ducks are local too, and I felt half bad hearing them quack as I woke up riverside this morning) and a crazy chocolate and pistachio semi-freddo with melted chocolate poured all over it.
