Once you arrive at the Red Sea you turn south and ride the coastal highway to Safaga. From there you will begin your first major climb riding inland across the rugged Eastern desert into Upper Egypt, joining the Nile River at Qena.

In Luxor, you will have the opportunity to explore one of the most the magnificent archeological sites in the world, Temple of Karnak, the Valleys of ...

... his own money for two flat breads for me.
Spent this afternoon catching up on the blog, my emails etc. Sorry to hear my Uncle has been in hospital but back home again now. Roger has had a bad cold, lost his voice etc. Mum feeling much better after a nasty long winded cough etc, so all seems well at the moment. Time to go and have something to eat - don't feel very hungry though but will be good to catch up with everyone.

A Day in Cairo

The Good: Little Tourism = sites empty, dry heat, friendly people
The Bad: Little Tourism = desperate hawkers, female disrespect, service

Tips:
- it's safe - everything you read in the news is localized to specific areas which are avoidable
- bring small bills to tip/buy souvenirs - the people who work in tourism are hard off
- if you want to do a camel ride, do it at giza pyramids
- expect traffic jams

Days would be spent visiting amazing sites – the Aswan dam, Luxor (and I highly recommend the Abu Simbel and hot air ballooning bolt-ons), the Valley of the Kings, to name a few, while nights would be spent on the ...
