... contest in the grounds of the Union Buildings (August 23rd) was an incredible afternoon. Great acrobatics from 12 top riders taking place right in front of our eyes. The winner Josh Sheehan deserved the victory if for nothing else other than completing a reverse 720 flip on no less than two occasions. Amazing atmosphere in front of 22000 spectators. ... we need more exercise. Erik gave in to the tired and had an afternoon nap, with the door to our room opened onto the garden, curtains catching lightly in the gentle breeze. It's amazing how quickly the time goes when you're sitting in a plane. Auckland's Sky Tower disappeared beneath the clouds and the great vastness of the Australian continent loomed. We divided our time between research (Madagascar 3 was showing) and falling into that addictive habit that is aeroplane movie watching. Who needs sleep anyway?
