... I can call within China. I have a Magic Jack on my computer that has worked well to call the states through my home phone number and I also use Skype and Facebook. Technology is amazing!
Sunday was my first experience going to their Chinese church that now has an English service at 1:00. The songs were good and all in English with the words on the screen. The sermon was in Chinese but then interpreted.
One area of the gardens is "the bridges". There are many ways to cross the river and most of them are free, but there was a charge for the chair that swung across and maybe for the rolling barrel - not sure.
All the toilets at the park are "squatty potties" and there is never toilet paper - you have to bring your own. Notice how the bushes are trimmed to read "WC" for water closet!
Today was the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday which celebrates the full moon. There was no school, so we were invited to join some Chinese families and spend the day at the Shenyang Expo Botanical Gardens. It is about a 45 min. drive from our apartment. We spent much of the day "hanging out" at the children's playground and by the bridges. English is usually written under the Chinese, and the translations are quite interesting! ...
The apartment complex is built around a courtyard. Our building is 17 floors and we are on the 11th. So far the elevator has been working! There is a basketball court on one end, and both adult and children's exercise equipment. Many of the residents have flowers, herbs and vegetables in pots in the courtyard.
