Akihabara, a dog`s paradise!

... me away.

We weren`t sure where to go next and so we stopped by one of the ubiquitous maps on the corner and took a gander. There was apparently a Don Quijote in the area, which we had heard a lot about, and decided to go looking for it. Unfortunately, we were quickly distracted. We went back across the street, walking towards the area where the JR was located and saw a couple of fun things:
a) a green car that looked like a ...

Brights Lights, Big City

... during World War II. It made us realise just how fortunate we are in London to have so many beautiful buildings of historical significance that are still in tact. The buildings in Tokyo can be described, at best, as 'functional' (and at worst as '*****'). During our travels around the city on numerous trains, we passed an endless expanse of stark apartment blocks and tangled webs of overhead cables.

However, in the evenings, Tokyo becomes a sea ...

Day 3: Tokyo Tower, Temple, and Ginza Treats

... Giga Pudding!!!), and candy (choco from a tiny trash can anyone?). The next floor we went to had lots of children's toys. There was an adorable dollhouse set with animals instead of people (a sweetly dressed mama and dada kitty with their children, bunnies, etc.). There were real ice cream makers, choco fountains, dress-up clothes, dollies, and robotic stuffed animals. There were lots of little boy toys, too, like transformers, Godzilla toys, and really cool little cars. There were ...

Day 23 - Inclement Weather??? WHERE???

in·clem·ent adj. 1. Stormy: inclement weather. 2. Showing no clemency; unmerciful. Fast forward to 8:28pm tonight. The Disney Sea main event presentation has just completed, when an announcement comes over the loud speaker, firstly in Japanese, and then in English, that due to "inclement weather" the nightly fireworks spectacular has been canceled. Due to inclement WHAT? WHERE???? Picture the most perfect ...

A blast of a Saturday with a new extended family

... in the video. We meet a couple of regulars and sang Karaoke. Mommojun sang as well (got it on video too). We had a blast. You couldn't top a nite out on the town in such a good way. Emi's mom said I was so much like her that I was her new daughter. I like her....quite the character. Sunday we woke up late and headed out with Rocky to the Imperial Palace. Wow what a large and beautiful place. The emperor still lives on the premesies and it is the most expensive land per square ...

... do druhej desiatky. Opat sa mi zacinaju vracat zle sny, kde stojim v nekonecnom rade zovrety medzi stepnymi obludami smrdiacimi starymi monterkami a ohnivou vodou, na konci ktoreho caka zubata carodejnica so sivymi strapatymi vlasmi po zem, bradavicou na nose a dlhymi pazurmi mi ukazuje, co vsetko som vyplnil zle v stostranovom dotazniku, kde mi chyba aka priloha a ktore kolonky nie su vypisane podla vzoru na strane 84 prirucky uvedenej na tajnej ...

Tokyo A Go-Go

... easily spent another month traveling. While I know that I am prone to hyperbole, I must say that this trip was truly amazing. Spending time in Asia is always a life changing experience, and this trip only doubled my love for this continent. I've had a great run these past few years, but now I'll be hanging up my wings for a while. Once I am ready to take to the skies again, you can bet that I'll be back on Travelpod with a full account of all my adventures. Thanks again for being a part of the fun! -Ari

... i didn't sleep at all - thanks to a random French guy who decided to take the free window seat next to me that i'd planned to sleep in... normally i wouldn't mind a nice French man sitting next to me, but this one didn't talk to me. and my sleep suffered. grrr. so i arrived into Shinjuku absolutely shattered, and starving hungry! after tea and a shower, i headed for some noodles with Mike, Kaori and Toby - then back for a ...

Tokyo Continued...

... Shrine, the largest shrine in Japan. Everyone I talked to before coming to Tokyo said that it is a must see. So I went. I took a train 2 hours through the country side of Japan and heads into the mountains. The scenery on the train ride out starts out pretty interesting with the many rice paddy fields and Japanse architecture, but grows repetitive really fast. The temples of Nikko are indescribably beautiful. They are ornate, lavish ...

... crave sushi in a whole new way. After the market we headed through one of the old gardens and took the water bus to Asakusa, or the old city. We grabbed a quick lunch and then went to see the temple and the pagoda. Incense burned as you approached and there were all sorts of plaques and papers with people's various hand written prayers. The red of the buildings was stunning and it looked like something right off of a post card. The streets surrounding the buildings ...
