... crow castle' for its unusual black facade was very aesthetically pleasing. The same can be said for the gardens which has big wide open spaces and all the features of a traditional Japanese garden. After visiting Okayama, I headed on to Hiroshima on the slowest bullet train ever( nearly 2 hours for a 40 minute journey because of 20 minute stops at every station on the way!) Tomorrow I will explore Hiroshima and in particular the peace memorial ...

The artwork at the museum really did not do much for me. I guess I can't make head or tail out of something that does not look like anything and I can't find any meaning to it. Maybe I am just a traditionalist.

We went to have a look at the artwork outside and that was more sensible. ...

Next was a couple of days at Takamatsu on the middle island of Shikuko.
This is a port city where we took a ferry trip to Shodoshima. This is the largest island in the area. Way back in 1908 the Japanese Government decide to start an olive growing industry since the climate is very Mediterranean.
