... no more people can go in. Not sure about the tea which was very green like spinach and which she told me came from nearby Bizen, but the ceremony and the serene view was worth every yen! She bowed so much, and so low that it was almost embarrassing.

Checked out Okayama Castle which is next door to the gardens. Again, much of it was destroyed by bombing in 1945, but has been faithfully reconstructed. It is very impressive with multiple stories. ...

... a town/city is not unusual. In the mountains the electricity towers are in the most rugged terrain and some are even right on top of the mountains. The sort of thing we would be horrified to see happen at home.

... we were safely ensconced in our room at Benesse House on Naoshima. It is a beautiful spot and our room looks out over the Seto Sea. For dinner we ordered the bento boxes (containing traditional Japanese food). It is very quiet here, the beds look very comfortable, and our room is just wonderful. A good nights sleep is on the cards before exploring some of the art museums tomorrow.

... on until we heard gun fire, and clapping. We realised that there was a demonstration taking place in front of the castle, with several people in costumes, firing various different types of guns. There was quite a crowd gathered, with film cameras and all sorts. We stood around the edge of the crowd for a while, but not being able to see very well, decided to move on and into the castle.

The castle was pretty but expensive. We headed up ...
