... nice and clean in the city too, not sure if that is because Pope Francis is coming soon or if that is normal, but we appreciated it! Managed to catch the boys on Facetime while using the free wifi in some shops and had a sms chat to Kira for Dave's birthday too, so that was nice. ... was built 859 as a fortress. It has the most amazing medieval terraces with an internal garden and the most beautiful room I have ever seen. The poor bellboy who had to carry our bulging suitcases up these stairs (no lift of course) We had a tour of the Castle with the same fellow (who turns out to be the waiter in the fancy Restaurant as well) and even though it was in Italian it was really good. ... of gourmet food, truffles and many Easter decorations. We had lunch in the square at a cafe which was bathed in sunshine.
The final destination was the town of Barolo, which also gives its name to the grape variety of the region. A brief tasting was followed by a walk through the narrow streets of this tiny hill top village

... front and father and the other son cooked in the kitchen. We finally got the Piedimonte experience. We travelled up to a small village in the hills and Sue and Phil had the degustation menu that included specialities of the region. Raw marinated veal, vegetables, ravioli in a light broth sauce, veal roast and chocolate pudding. All washed down with a local wine. We also tried the tiramisu which was very light. A fantastic meal.

... warm up. We weaved through countless streets. Turin was more beautiful then I expected, full of huge extravagant buildings and many museums and monuments.
