... once-in-a-lifetime course/travel opportunity, I just filled out the application. Didn't really think about it too much at all. Name, address, social security number, date of birth, whatever they wanted. Official looking papers are really good at soliciting my trust.

St Louis is full of amazingly friendly people. However at night, there's definitely a darker side to the city which is a real shame. Lots of "dazed" people walking about asking people for money, even in small amounts. "Hey, can u spare 35 cents, i need it for bus fare". It kind of reminded us of downtown San Francisco at night. It makes you appreciate your life.
We decided to go into a restaurant ...
... He was just getting ready to close it all up. We had never seen hide nor hair of him the whole week we were there, but had a nice chat with him now -Wisonsonites do like to talk.
The up shot of that snafu was that we wouldn't have time for Milwaukee. Nor would I be able to stop off in Racine and pick up a Kringle. Besides ...
... shared one the size of a garbage bin lid, I pulled up after one slice. Paddy had 3, and admitted it was too much. The restaurant is a great Chicago institution.
Took the train and bus home. Not too much trudging through the snow, and not as cold tonight, only -14, although expecting more snow tonight. Not looking forward to the early start tomorrow to put the boys on the Greyhound bus to Louisville. I could stay in my warm bed while they go out in the snow....
... the rain clouds. This was the one main tourist attraction we wanted to do, so it was a shame we couldn't go up and experience their glass floor! In the afternoon, we went to Navy Pier, which stretches out onto Lake Michigan. We were again confronted with a place like Blackpool, only this time it was absolutely deserted! I think they must have a lot of things going in in summer and winter, but autumn is clearly not that important. ...
