Historical Traveler Reviews Marriott's Grande Vista Orlando

      What a great place

      from

Marroitt Grande Vista is the most comfortable resort we have stayed at in our life time. As a travel agent and a 30 year retired airline employee we rate our stay number one from beginning to end. It was nice to open the drapes in the early am and see the golf action just outside our room. I'm retired now and it was to bad I didn't stay at the resort while I was a travel agent, I would have tried to sell the Grande Vista to my American Express Gold and Platinum card holders who were wanting places to stay, but not at DisneyWorld Resorts.

      Beautiful

      from

From the moment the car turned into the driveway and the view of the lake, paddle boats, majestic palm trees and of course the gorgeous Grand Vista comes into view I was sold. What a beautiful place. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms (we had a two bedroom (7) in our party, were spacious and well decorated, not at all tacky. We had a view of the golf course, nice and quiet. Plenty of activities for children. There is a play gym for ages 1-12 with plenty of climbing thru tunnels and sliding and even a swing. A ball pit for the little ones. Arcade room with air hockey and pinball as well as other games to keep the teens busy. Everyday there was different activity going on at the main pool, it was so much fun. When we go back to Orlando I'm sure we'll stay at the Grande Vista again, it's hard to beat in beauty, value and convenience.

      Beautiful Resort, Perfect Vacation Spot!

      from

This was probably the cleanest, most beautiful resort we have stayed. The resort caters to families- Adults and children. It is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the resorts, yet very close to everything. Grande is the perfect description; yet, this place offers the serenitywe wanted and needed after a hot day at the parks, beauty, and many activities. It is very close to Sea World and right off of I Drive. The rooms are spotless and very roomy. The view from our balcony included a pool, golf course, AND lake. Staff was very friendly. Our 4 year old loved it. Many things to do here or choose to do nothing but relax! We stayed away from the parks for 2 days and enjoyed our days here just as much! Great deal for what you get! We hope to return some time in the future!

Absolute best for families and groups for the price!

      from

I've been going to Orlando for the theme parks since I was 5 years old, and I'm 29 now with a family of my own, so naturally we are taking our family yearly to Orlando. This is a wonderful, beautifully maintained and clean villa plus more than you expect from any hotel, condo, inn, etc. Full kitchen with better than average appliances, tons of sleeping space (the 2 BR villa we stayed at sleeps 8, we had 7 total), 2 balconies, one which was screened so we ate our breakfast every morning on the balcony, beautiful view of the pool and golf greens, excellent service from maids to conceirge to front desk, free family portrait, tickets to Sea World (they were running a great Sea World package that included two adult tix). The other bedroom even had its own microwave, coffeemaker and toaster in addition to the full kitchen. We saved a lot of money cooking (which we love to do anyway) and were able to enjoy the villa itself. Plus, it was great not to "have to" eat out esp. when you're exhausted from doing the parks all day. Concierge made reservations for us at an excellent restaurant nearby, and overall, don't miss staying at this place with all the activities for all members of your family. We only wished we could stay longer and we are going to purchase the vacation ownership plan in the near future, we loved it so much. I've stayed at the Grand Floridian, Contemporary Resort, All Star Resort, Swan and Dolphin, Amerisuites, Residence Inn, etc. and by far, this is the best value and quality for your money or else I wouldn't write this extremely long email!

      Great Pools!

      from

We just returned from this resort and we had a great time. We had an efficiency and it was more than adequate for the two of us. We had a private balconey, toaster, microwave small refrigerator, coffee maker. One night we had another couple come stay with us, the couch in our room was a pull-out. The pools were really well maintained and there was enough room for all the guests with a good mix of shade and sun. We really enjoyed our stay.

      Great timeshare line

      from

Nice accomodations and a nice sales line for the timeshare. Best line we have heard yet, but it still wasn't enough for us to buy. We went on a special deal where we got some free tickets to Universal and a great rate. There was little pressure to buy from the salesman. One more day would have been nice.

One of the nicest one's yet!!!

      from

We stayed in a 2 BR villa 12/14 to 12/21 2002. It had 2 bathrooms, King Beds in each BR, whirlpool bath, 2 screened in patios, washer and dryer, full kitchen and 2 pullout couches. The resort itself is beautiful on a lake/golf course. There were so many activities offered you could feasibly stay onsite for the week. We were close to all Orlando attraction. We would like to return next December.

      Marriott is beautiful

      from

The Marriott Grande Vista is a wonderful place to stay for your vacation in Orlando. I had a 1 bedroom villa. I loved the decor, friendly staff, having a fully equipped kitchen, whirlpool tub, and beautiful view of lakes and woods from the private balcony. The maid service is also exellent. The facility was very clean. I would recommend this facility highly and will return myself.

Marriott's Grande Vista - well worth it

      from

Marriott's Grande Vista is one of the best hotels I have stayed at. If you're interested in visiting Disney, consider the Grande Vista! I don't see why anyone would pay the price to stay on Disney's property when this resort is less than a 5 minute drive from Disney and packs a whole lot more in value than many of the Disney hotels. The resort is relatively new and they are continuing to add more buildings/rooms. The rooms are very clean and some of the buildings have their own guest pool in addition to the main pool. There is a giant poolside movie screen where you can watch movies from the pool at dusk! You can also walk through the on site nature trail or around the perimeter of the lake. There are many more ammenities to numerous to mention, so see their website for more details.

      Great for families and golfers

      from

Though in Orlando on business, I brought my family to this resort and really enjoyed it. Excellent programs and activites for kids of all ages, good pools, and golfing/instruction on site. The rooms are spacious (we had a two bedroom suite with full kitchen) and well maintained. Wiuth an easy 15 minute drive to Disney World, this resort worked out well for me.

Disney Day Four - Magic Kingdom

... I wanted to watch the live show outside the castle while Holly and Lucy checked out the shops in the main street. Gary and I had planned to go back to the resort for a while and head back at 7pm for the parade and the fireworks at 8pm. However, the monorail was not operating and the time it would have taken to get back would cut into our packing time as we fly home tomorrow. We had already seen the Epcot fireworks show so will need to see the Magic Kingdom show ...

... got to have a photo taken with them after.

We went for dinner at the Outback Steakhouse, I ate crispy prawns (Americans call them shrimp) with salad and pink lemonade which was really nice, although uncle Sam said the lemonade was disgusting, I did not agree. After dinner I fell asleep on the sofa watching Indiana Jones and grandad carried me to bed.

... HIS NAME IS. It’s been a few days now and it’s too late to ask him, but I have a sneaky suspicion he doesn’t know mine either. We did introduce ourselves initially, but his name just went straight out the window.
I could write about the weird guy in his 30’s who seems to live at the hostel and goes to Disneyworld every day using his annual pass (he’s offered to take me and show me around…I’m avoiding him) or the Swiss girl ...

      Orlando Theme Parks - Tips

A travel blog entry by didier.moutia on Feb 01, 2013

Here are our tips for any families heading to Orlando intending to visit the theme parks.

      • January in Florida was great. Days were sunny and warm with evenings a little cool. Crowd numbers at the parks were great. If you do come in summer be prepared for long waits, we saw the standby queue areas and they looked large. We were told by locals that some waits in summer for rides could be three hours. Our longest wait for a ride for the whole trip was ...
